We'd need to find a serviceable backup, but I'd do this if they didn't lottery protect it.

Mikko Koskinen has a .900 save percentage average

Halak's is .915....................

Not a big difference

But Edmonton will think so!

We will take Koskinen at 50% retained as part of the deal

Do sweat it, he'll play better in Vancouver, with 4 lines and a defense in front of him.

Holland was pretty adamant that the 1st is off the table.  He pretty much answered that it would be stupid for him to trade draft picks or prospects for rentals and that he wasn't at all interested in doing so. He says the answer is in the room.

Tippett not happy with their compete and will.  Making a trade is not going to fix that fundamental issue.

Koskinen is an ECHL quality goalie.  Even at 50% retained,  I don't want that sieve to ever wear a Canucks jersey.

If the Oilers allow 30 shots per game, over a 10 game period Halak saves them an extra 4.5 goals over a 10 game span...

Have them throw-in Munzenberger

Hey, I know, I am asking them for alot.............alot!!!!

But if they won't pay.........they throw another season of McDavid and Draistl away

I am not sure that that is a good idea...........

So, if they can find better...........go for it, but that is my ask

And you think adding Halak and Chiasson would stop that from happening? Gotta give you full marks for the ask though.

Are you under the impression that Halak is their only possible target? They aren’t going overpay for a 1/2 season of a 36 year old back up with a dead cap space bonus next year.  They can look elsewhere

I honestly do not think there are many "none playoff teams" , or "none bubble team", that have goalies, that they will put on the market as good as Halak.

Then, I think you have to factor in length of contract, as well.

It is a big ask, but Halak can play a #1 goalie, and is consistant ...................

Who would you think could be offered up?

Boston currently has 3 goalies now that they’ve signed Rask. Chicago could look to move Fleury. Montreal could move Allen, the ducks could move one of their guys.  (Stolarz or Gibson).

That’s just off the top of my head.  The point is Vancouver doesn’t have the leverage in a potential Halak trade to bleed them dry.
