Popular Post -AJ-
Some tidbits I found about Mikheyev: - Ice time suggests he's a high-end 3rd liner or fringe 2nd line guy - Average hitting frequency - Tall at 6'3", but not overly large at 195lbs - Had a solid rookie campaign, then had a pretty notable sophomore slump before returning to form last year - Doesn't block that many shots - On pace for 32 goals, 17 assists, and 49 points last year in 82 games - Spent time on TOR's 2nd PP unit last year and was arguably one of their better players there - Extremely impressive possession metrics--56.3% CORSI despite very defensive usage - 0/2 in his career in the shootout - Was a solid piece of TOR's 2nd PK unit - Turns 28 just before the start of the season - Had a much higher shooting percentage than earlier in his career, but not out of line with goal-scorers (14.3%) 1 3 3
PuckYa
Here's a great comparable signing today as well. I think Mikheyev has a higher ceiling. 4 inches taller & faster as well. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=147613 https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/l/lehkoar01.html Edited July 13, 2022 by PuckYa
Boudrias
What I like with a number of the signings is the affordability of trading into the TDL if advantageous.

I’m wondering who the guy is now (on the team) who takes leadership and put guys through the drills? One of the things those great Gillis teams had was incredible faintness. Just curios who the gun is now who leads that?
Alflives
So xciting to steal the LOSER LEAFS best play-off player. This guy is the real deal. He’s pretty much the only LOSER LEAF (except Marner) who plays the right way without the puck. No wonder Dumbass and SHAMAPLAN were so upset with us stealing him that they whine to the league about tampering. Is there a more LOSER team than the LOSER LEAFS? 1 1

I think he is going to be a lot more motivated to play for Van than Tor, especially with his Russian buddy Kuz and young blood Pod on the team. Him telling Kuzmenko to sign in Van, looks like he was planning to do the same, beforehand. 2
wildcam
There has been some nervousness from people across the NHL regarding Russian players and whether they’ll be able to easily return to North America from offseasons spent in Russia for training camps this fall. For the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks, they won’t need to worry much longer about two of their players. CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal has learned from agent Dan Milstein that the Canucks’ big offseason signing, Ilya Mikheyev, has arrived in North America in order to begin his preparations for the upcoming season. The New York Post’s Mollie Walker has also learned from Milstein that winger Vitali Kravtsov has arrived in New York City in advance of training camp. I see what you did there
