The plan is working to perfection.  Connor Bedard is closer to being a Vancouver Canuck than ever before...

Those who enjoy conspiracies like to think the NHL exerts some kind of control over the lottery system..........what better story than the next franchise player getting to come to his home town team?

I kind of miss Loui Eriksson… It kind of feels wrong blaming losses on a Miller or Boeser.

One could always argue that his bad example impressed itself upon the other players.

They realized they could collect their contractual millions without actually trying that hard.

(But that would be unfair to Eriksson and the other players.)

We are currently two 0-3 runs from essentially missing the playoffs as per last years metrics.  We need to win at least 48 of the next 76 games to make the post season.

This is SIX games in to the season with this math.

If we lose say 6 more games with 14 wins in the next 20, we will be 14-10-2 with 30 points  leaving us exactly 50 games to make 68 points to make the playoffs with a 98 point berth.  This equates to something ridiculous like a .644 winning percentage IF we only lose 6 games in the next 20 while winning 14 outright

I don't wanna do the pessimism thing, but that math is NOT positive or in the team's favour

A nitpick question:  if we have a 14-10-2 record, wouldn't that leave us with 56 games?  Which would mean we would have to play with a .607 wp?

But I think your overall point is a good one.  It seems ridiculous but the Canucks are in danger of blowing their whole season within the first 20 to 25 games.

(For that matter, I'm still spooked by that post that quoted the stat that said that no team that was winless in their first five or six starts ever made the playoffs.)

There’s something about Vancouver that makes NHL players want to retire prematurely going as far back as Messier.  It’s like every time we sign an aging vet for any length of time.  There’s a country club feel to Vancouver.  I felt it with Eriksson, Schaller, Sutter, Pearson, Beagle, and now Miller, it’s like there’s something in the air that makes you want to kick your feet up and pat yourself of the back for accomplishing mediocrity.  It’s more than just the nerves after signing a big contract, it’s an unwillingness to push hard.  It’s a take it easy and relax city, there’s no hunger in a lot of our vets right now

Dickinson is the perfect example of the West Coast Virus.  He was brought in to be our 3rd line centre but he looked like Loui Eriksson out there.  Then he get traded to the Blackhawks and miraculously he rediscovers his game.  Look at Nick Dowd, I can go through many examples of players that have come and gone but when they come to Vancouver they treat their stay like it’s a vacation.   It’s the Mark Messier virus.

Yup, I don't get it. Vent your frustration online if you must, talk with your friends, talk to other fans, there are so many avenues to discuss things and express frustration without taking it out on a person in person.

Being a public figure doesn't green light you to be harassed, or it shouldn't.

Ya I mean this forum board is literally for that. I’d hope the players don’t come on here when they aren’t playing well.

If I get problems with my computer I immediately delete the latest app or add on. Maybe Yeo is one of those bad heel end of the loaf.

We need to add player friendly coaches like Scott Walker. I think Hansen is that guy. Or Ryan Johnson.

I was not thrilled by the Yeo signing but don't have the level of hate that King does

Here is my thought on coaching

If Bruce gets sacked before he coaches 82 games

the Canucks will have fired 2 NHL coaches with a combined NHL wins total of over 1375

2 coaches that last between 4-6 seasons in all of their other stops

Yet in Vancouver they get sacked within a year of being hired

2 coaches with 1375 combined wins but cannot outlast rookies Wonkie Willie and TGreen

what does that say about our franchise?

oh it got pretty anti-Miller this summer

you say obvious but one of the most experienced people in the game disagreed with you on Miller.

we're missing a defensive specialist in the top 9. We don't have a shut down C. Maybe if we can trade for that somehow, this season can be salvaged.

What does "Salvaging this season" look like to you?

squeaking into the playoffs and losing in 5?

a 15-20 pick?

This.  This.  This is what we are playing for.  Look at the guy.  He is a superstar.  Better than Petey.  Let's goooo....

Blow hard for Bedard...

The Sharks have an early lead. If Bedard lands in San Jose, then the Canucks will be facing Bedard, Wright, Beniers, McTavish all within the same division for years to come. Not to mention McDavid and Draisaitl...

Bedard is coming home.  I can feel it.  Miller is playing his role perfectly...

Yeah that’s a realistic possibility and all the more reason to truly prepare for the future arms race now.
