I think this is the way the Canucks keep him out of the lineup without announcing he is being held out as a possible trade. Has Colorado scared them all that much? It sure isn't the Coilers or LVK. He got dinged up a couple of times though in the Bruins game though, so maybe there is something there injury wise. We could retain on JTM this season, and take back JK's contract. So the Canes don't have any cap issues. Next year's JTM"s raise is (mostly) covered by Staal being a UFA. Peeke has experience playing top pair and could slot next to Hughes right away. Peekes name is out there with Jiricek and Cuelemans coming. If people think Miller is tough (He's not really, just has a tough look on his face), Tree is as tough as they come. That is the level of deterrent we need for our skilled players. It's the right move because he is simply going to get paid way to much for what he brings and where this team currently is. He's a good player but we need a 3-4 years younger Miller. We do need veteran presence still but that role shouldn't be taking a big chunk of cap. If we trade Miller then we have to hang on to Schenn. Gives us another year to get closer to an OEL buyout.
