If you can move him, do it. I love what JT brings when he’s on his game but the Canucks cannot continue to be a perennial cap maxed team while floundering near the bottom of the league. Cap flexibility allows you to take advantage of other teams while restocking the pipeline with picks and young players. They have their emerging superstar in Petey and now it’s time to strip it down and build around him.

But how much are you going to be able to take advantage of other teams with the cap increasing now?

That ship might have sailed.

Hmm, trade deadline is in about a week.  Nice of the team to give him some time get his things sorted before the trade to Carolina for Kotkaniemi, Morrow and a 1st.

Yeah, seems kind of coincidental for sure. I think this is the way the Canucks keep him out of the lineup without announcing he is being held out as a possible trade. The injury would've been talked about prior to game day imo.

If not the Canes then it's Pitsburgh.

The entire East is loading up, they all want the cup. Has Colorado scared them all that much? It sure isn't the Coilers or LVK. He got dinged up a couple of times though in the Bruins game though, so maybe there is something there injury wise.

Guys on 650 talking about JTM and the Canes. We could retain on JTM this season, and take back JK's contract. So the Canes don't have any cap issues.  Next year's JTM"s raise is (mostly) covered by Staal being a UFA. He's a six mil cap coming off their books.

I wonder about a 3way. Morrow might not even sign with us. Peeke has experience playing top pair and could slot next to Hughes right away. Peekes name is out there with Jiricek and Cuelemans coming.

Van- Jk, Peeke

Car- Miller

Cbj- picks, prospects

Probably don’t get the 1st though

If Miller gets traded, you know the brass is starting to “get” the market and the forum here.

Of course you know what that means next…. :D

Sure hope so.  Bringing in the new guard.  If people think Miller is tough (He's not really, just has a tough look on his face), Tree is as tough as they come.  That is the level of deterrent we need for our skilled players.  Tree and Schenn on the backend meets the need very well.

I would be shocked if Miller gets traded. It's the right move because he is simply going to get paid way to much for what he brings and where this team currently is.

He's a good player but we need a 3-4 years younger Miller.  We do need veteran presence still but that role shouldn't be taking a big chunk of cap. If we trade Miller then we have to hang on to Schenn. Can't take all the snarl out unless we are getting some back or Hughes & Petey won't finish this year uninjured.

It's a perfect fit for both teams especially if we get Kotkaniemi, a strong D prospect and a pick, we meet our needs.
