Hughes is playing in a league with Hedman, Power, Dahlin, Fox, Makar, Josi, Heiskanen, Hamilton, McAvoy, Chabot and Seider. All are amazing defencemen that can score, but all of them. To a player are arguably better defensive defencemen than Hughes has shown himself to be. You'd kick yourself if we end up missing out on the next Crosby/Mcdavid on a 3 year ELC during a rebuild. Use that space to take on contracts and recoup the picks. Edit : If we don't hit a massive home run on one of those two firsts, it's a slam dunk move to take the hypothetical McDavid trade. Even with a home run, McDavid still wins that deal.
