And at that point he still has to climatize to a new team. We still have our own 1st round pick that Isn’t conditional. So there’s still a shot at bedard with far better percentages. the 1st rd pick we gave up isn’t even in our control. And very well could end up at around 17, 18 oa. People losing their marbles.

DeNiro
Curious to see how many bottom 10 teams have traded away first round picks at the deadline. I’ve got a feeling we set another NHL record this season!
Guest
Weird timing on the trade from Detroit's point of view too. Your team has fought tooth and nail to be in the playoff hunt and you're gonna trade away your 2nd d-man?

bad alice french
Watch for PA to retain on Boeser and pry Petterson from Penguins. Two young blue line acquisitions with term at the deadline would be huge.
BlastPast
I would be surprised if the expectation is for Hronek to single-handedly take the team to a .600+ P%. He's 25 years old; this is not a short-term addition. That quote from the Athletic is dumb. It takes some things for granted when evaluating the deal that are far from determined. Sidebar: Is there some prerequisite to working at the Athletic that you must be a jumped-up, snarky douchebag? This is a risk without a doubt, but opportunities to acquire even a middle-class right-side defenseman are relatively scarce --especially a 25-year old. It's going to be interesting to see how it pans out but obviously morons are making the definitive call right away.
Canuckfanforlife82
I just don't get how we keep throwing picks away with a system so bare. No sense at all. We just aren't going to have players in that system that are impact players? Never seen an organization treats picks like they have the plague like the Canucks. Might as well go out and push for Garland for Carlo in the off-season. Hughes - Carlo POJ/Pettersson - Hronek OEL - Livingstone

Many of us who hate this deal weren't saying squat about RHD. We wanted an effing rebuild. Stop pretending you wanted a rebuild when you cant even handle missing playoffs…. 2019-20 playoffs 2020-21 COVID f***ing destroyed us and our insane scheduling was a huge factor in us missing playoffs, not to mention losing Pettersson for 60% of the season. Otherwise we would have been a playoff team 2021-22 Our star players failed to perform right out of the gates, PK was historically sh*t but we turned it around and were one of the best teams down the final FIFTY SEVEN GAME STRETCH… maybe if Pettersson wasnt pointless in like 27 of the first 42 games of the season, we might have actually been a playoff team? Or if our goalies were dialed in from the getgo we would be a playoff team last year? This year: all 3 goalies were horrendous, PK rewriting history AGAIN…. We’ve blown countless games thanks to everyone involved in the dzone…. Yet a lot of teams ahead of us and solidly in playoff positions have less than 10 more wins than us. Our problem can be fixed if players pull their weight and systems are executed. We are closer to competing for playoffs than we are needing to rebuild and thats a fact. We barely missed in 2 of the last 3 seasons. This year we were scoring plenty and when Demko went down our goaltending situation got 100x uglier. Im sure if he was healthy, we would have had 6-7 more wins and that would put us right in the conversation for playoffs 1

J-23
22 minutes ago, Elias Pettersson said: 650 had a guy on from Detroit, who has watched every Detroit game, which obviously neither one of us have done. He said Hronek has improved defensively and shut down Stamkos when they played Tampa. He said he is a legit top 4 Dman and the reason they traded him is they were worried about his next contract. He obviously is behind Seider on their depth chart, so they probably didn't want to pay both of them. OEL is not going to be on this team next year. Even Satiar Shah is now saying there is a real possibility they will buy him out. So, we are most likely targeting someone like Olli Maata to play with him next year. Ryan Graves would be my first choice. Hronek will be on the 2nd pairing, no he's not a shutdown Dman, I never said he was, but he will complement a shutdown Dman that we hopefullly will acquire to partner him. The NYI pick won't be a top 5 pick. They will finish at 13th or higher this year and Detroit will get that pick in 2023. Chychrun is a LHD. We were targeting a RHD. If Tocchet really wanted Chychrun I am sure he is the guy we would have traded for... I will be happy if this is the case, cause everything I’ve ever seen on Hronek is good offensive defencmen but biggest weakness is defence. Just need him to be average defensively. Pettersson or POJ would be good partners potentially.
