Can we vote Jim Benning? He did play here before driving the bus into the gutter.

Actually as a NHL player, he was a *VERY* respectable #4 type of defenseman.  A shame he couldn't clone himself so he could've helped stabilize the blueline.  Instead he acquired/traded for/dealt REAL assets for "Mini-Me" versions of himself when he was GM.

Yeah I didn't have a problem with him when he was a layer bit it was the only way to backdoor him into this conversation.

Why is Beagle here D:

I think it is probably because he was brought here to be a "leader in the lockerroom" and a "veteran prescence in the bottom 6" on a caphit that is way too high even for what he is suppose to bring to the team. Within 2 years of signing his 4 year contract, he isn't even worth a league minimum contract. I don't think he should be on this list, but if he were available as a UFA after his first 2 years as a Canuck, he would at best be signed to a league minimum contract if not won't even get one but he was taking up $3 million in cap space and it is part of the reason why we couldn't retain Tanev & Toffoli in the 2020 off-season. Blame should be placed on Jim Benning.

And guy was given a "NTC" (a 4th line center with $3 million cap hit).  And people complained about Gillis handing out NTCs like candy.  Nothing wrong with giving a NTC if it means a smaller cap hit.

He was fine as a 4C.  Its his contract that sucked azz (cap hit, NTC, length)

I think we all knew it was an overpay at the time, so yeah definitely the blame on Benning. Shoutout Beagle for this goal though.

I have to say Loui.

I'm defining the term "disappointment" as the gap between expectations and reality. Maybe this is hindsight speaking, but I feel like the Messier and OEL debacles were criticized right from the start. Expectations were high for Loui.

If youre asking what the biggest train wreck in Canucks history was, it's easily Messier

Off this list Jake, all the tools were there, he was just too stupid to use them.

Actual answer Petr Nedved, tremendous skill but his ego and attitude eclipsed any skill he had.

Jake couldn't carry Nedved's jockstrap & Nedved had no balls.:P
