Dogs are people too

My wife and I are foster parents to so many pups and kittens in Alberta...I believe our current foster (a cute little Pittie cross) is our 53rd foster so far. We have 2 of our own...Frankie is our first rescue and she's a Pointer-Pittie cross, and Harriet (Sweet Harriet) is what we call a "foster fail"...she came to us as a foster and we just fell in love with her and adopted her...she's a Shepherd / Border Collie / Husky cross and she has the most hilarious personality (which I think is the Husky part). When we speak for them we give Frankie a "Brooklyn" accent, and Harriet of course is an Aussie.

Have to agree 100% that a lot of pets (and fosters) are better than some of the people I know. The loyalty is uncompromised, the love...genuine. I do love bunnies as well. We had 2 bunnies at the same time and it was a constant porn show...they were both boy bunnies...they couldn't figure it out...hours of entertainment.

Dogs are not people.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news:bigblush:   That being said people have allergies to dogs cats and some people have a phobia of animals also.   I can see if there are special flights that are only used for animals.  But they have to have their own ticket.  And no way in hell I would get on a plane with a pit bull especially with a small child or another dog.  Too many bad pet owners out there.

I grew up with a dog and get the love for dogs, but honestly, I think it’s going too far. Dogs on planes? It’s already happening a lot, and my wife, who is allergic to dogs, often has a lot of problems on airplanes now.
I see dogs in all sorts of shops / stores, and thinking it’s just wrong. I’m sorry, but these are creatures that just piss wherever they like. Dogs are not people. They’re very loyal and friendly to their owners, but let’s not treat them like people in public please.

This is a biggest difference between Europe and North America right there

I don’t doubt that, but in the case of my friend, his service dog has a vest too, and some people decided it’s still not legitimate.

It’s probably because of people like that you mentioned.

It is likely from people like some I've dealt with, but once I see a vest then they're in. If your friend is having trouble with getting a vested animal into pretty much anywhere, I'd be telling him to call a lawyer. Where I am (I don't know Canadian laws on it, but I assume they're pretty similar) that's a clear violation of the Disabilities Act.

I agree, especially over the restaurant, as he was waiting outside in a long line and there were several witnesses. If I remember correctly, they voiced their displeasure to that manager and were ignored, so most(if not all) of them left in disgust. A shame. It was Pat Quinn’s restaurant and he was an avid dog lover.

One of the many reasons I love Torts is because he's such a dog/animal lover.

That and he is honest and direct. He tried to explain the team desperately needed to rebuild, but ownership didn’t wanna hear that. I wonder if he had coached the Canucks 2 or 3 years prior, maybe they would have won the Stanley Cup. We’ll never know though.

Yep, exactly how I feel about him.

And then there was that storming the Calgary dressing room....I love the guy.

Our family lost our beloved Maltese two years ago (to this day) and we miss him dearly. I knew his time with us would be short since he had some health complications starting in 2020, and he was only 9 years old, but you can never prepare yourself for it. I remember getting the call at 2:05am from my mom saying he unexpectedly passed away. I quickly rushed to the vet hospital to say my goodbyes which was very difficult. My mom is still devastated by the loss.

Dogs / pets are special.
