NightHawkSniper
He's an RFA why would anyone think he is going anywhere? Unless there is a disgusting offersheet or a ridonkulous overpayment in a trade Tanev will sign his next contract with the Canucks no doubt. DownUndaCanuck
2 years 2 million per, 2.5 max. Considering he doesn't bring much offence or physicality, he shouldn't demand anything upward of 3 million.
Coconuts
I think we'd be have to be crazy to let him go. He's a steady bottom six guy who rarely makes mistakes, that's valuable. He's still young too, so who knows how he could develop.
70seven
he wont cost all that much on this next contract.... he doesnt have the offensive numbers to support the big $$, and is to early in his contract to get the veteran shut down D like numbers. if he's lucky, he'll scratch 2 million. Ron_Burgundy
Sign Tanev on a long term contract. It isn't often you come across a hometown guy with the incredibly high hockey IQ that Chris Tanev possesses, not to mention how calm he is in high pressure situations (playoff performer, anyone?). I can definitely see Tanev becoming an assistant captain, if not our captain, when the Sedin era is over.

~AngelBelle~
I wouldn't give him more than 2m. He's pretty bad, fail passes, tiny body, average speed. Honestly I must be watching a totally different game cuz i think hes terrible w/o ballard bailing him out on every play

NuxFan09
Yes he will because, unlike the rest of the Canucks' defensemen, he'll come cheap and he'll always be somewhat cheap, barring some totally unforseen offensive outburst. Steady defensemen like Tanev that don't really produce a lot of offense are such valuable commodities because you're not having to pay for the offense and yet you're still getting a great player. Willie Mitchell and Rob Scuderi are some of the better defensive defensemen in the league and they make $3.5M and $3.4M respectively.
Smashian Kassian
Sign him on a bridge contract for 2-3 years. Then lock him up long term on a big contract.
