Popular Cash Dump names and Values (Discussion)

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys..........I have collected these names from different posts

Would anyone like to put trade values to these names (wanting picks and A prospects)

Just put "Pass", if you think there is no value to the Canucks or the trading team........

Brent Seabrook....... 6 years at $6,875,000..........$41,250,000
Milan Lucic.............. 5 years @ $6,000,000.......$30,000,000
Bobby Ryan.............. 4 years @ $7,250,000.......$29,000,000
Andrew Ladd ...........5 years @ $5,500,000........$27,500,000
Karl Alzner .............. 4 years @ $4,625,000........$18,500,000
Brandon Dubinsky... 3 years @ $5,850,000........$17,550,000
Andrew Shaw ..........4 years @ $3,900,000........$15,600,000
Martin Gaborick....... 3 years @ $4,875,000........$14,625,000
Zack Bogosian......... 2 years @ $5,142,857..........$10,285,704
Andy MacDonald..... 2 years @ #5,000,000.......$10,000,000
Andy Greene............ 2 years @ $5,000,000.......$10,000,000
Jason Speza .............1 year @ $7,500,000............$7,500,000
Brooks Orpik............ 1 year @ 5,500,000.............$5,500,000
Tyler Ennis ..............1 year @ $4,600,000...........$4,600,000
Matt Moulson ..........1 year @ $3, 975,000...........$3,975,000

This might end up as a training exercise for me, as I usually have trouble with player values at the best of times.

Thanks

I'll play. My wife is out drinking wth the gals so I got time.

Easiest to move imo:

Alzner has the most hockey trade value, I think he could fetch a solid 3rd line C.

Then Orpik, WSH has to move that salary for next season so if that FLA 2nd of theirs was in play he could get moved. I'd move Hutton for Orpik and that 2nd.

Finally I'd say Spezza, but it would have to be a deal where they didn't give up much since he's easy to buy out. I'd put his value at around a 3rd rounder with a project prospect in return, for a cap floor team looking to add a pick.

the rest.... all strong buyout candidates wit anyone 3 years or less imo

Seabrook is the most interesting to me. If he's still got 3-4 seasons in him he might be of interest to someone, but it would have to be packaged with CHI's 1st rounder.

Lucic is unmovable.

Thanks for not including Loui E. I still have hope.

Yeah, it is a lot of work......was sort of hoping people would pick and choose, as obviously we can take them all.

I like Andrew Shaw, but not sure he is anywhere the player he use to be........but I here Montreal want him out of there........what's the problem with him.

Montreal apparently got calls on Shaw at the TDL and refused to move him.  Bergevin specifically went to bring him in re character because they were already trying to change the culture in the room.  This year again during their end of season presser both him and owner Molson kept on talking about needing more character players.  It's doubtful they want to move him.

Bowman was specifically asked about moving on from Seabrook and he said they had no intention on moving on from their core 4 of Seabrook, Keith, Toews and Kane.  He says they need them to help their young players as they rebuild their group.  Listening to coach Q talk about Seabrook - he brings a lot to the room and with them wanting to transition and bring in more young players they need some veterans around.

Buffalo giving up a high 2nd to save 1.5M is highly doubtful.  Moulson is a 5M cap hit - at 50% retained it's 2.5M vs about 4M as buried contract.  They are rebuilding - it's not an efficient use of a pick when they have cap space.

MacDonald plays about 20min a night - their 3rd most used D.  It seems like they've found a spot for him and they don't seem to need the cap space either.

McKenzie in his latest podcast was asked if Dallas would move a 2nd round pick to move Spezza and he answered no.  One of their beat writers said that they actually think that Spezza has trade value - i.e. they would get something in return and not be the ones adding.  It's also unclear if they want to move on - Nill says he wants to talk to all involved and Spezza thinks he'll be back.  It's also the same cost to buy him out than to retain 33% and they wouldn't be giving up a pick.

I would take Bogosian on this team in a heart beat

If he hadn't taken Sami Salo's glass body for his own and gotten outpaced in scoring by our own right-handed D-man Erik (Gudbranson) I would've said yes.
28 y/o for two years would've made for a decent project pickup but he's only had one season (sophomore year) where he's missed less than 10 games in a season.  He is normally good for around 20-25 points in a season (valuable as he'd pace the right-handed D-men and has a strong slap shot) but if he can't stay healthy then his talent's all for nothing.

Why the rush? Teams like Toronto and Edmonton are going to have to make some moves to keep players.

Isn't next years UFA's pretty damn good too yes?

The only player I'm really interested would be Tavares but I don't think the Canucks current situation would appeal to him. I think he wants to win a Cup now.

Anyone one of these would be fine. As long as their contract expires when Pettersson, Juolevi, 2018 pick etc are ready for re-ups.  A 3 year player would need to be a sizable payment unless they can be used in our bottom 4. Dubinsky would be interesting but does CBJ want to give up on him after this season? (he still in CBJ??)

Ideally, a 2-year term would be preferred. Prevents the storyline heading into that offseason "how much of that cash" is going to "Pettersson".  If he's gone the year before and the cap space is just there or used on a 1-year deal we can get more out of it.  Plus.. less term we take the sooner we can take another bad contract in his steed.

I wouldn't take any of these long term contracts... I doubt any team would give up much to get rid of a short term contract.

Plus doing these things will send the wrong message to our team... you have no chance to win... there's no point in us even trying... let's give up for a year or two or FIVE???... so we will sacrifice our cap space for a free prospect.

tanking is tanking... despicable
