[Waivers] Mike McKenna, Devante Smith-Pelly, Joseph Cramarossa

We all knew this day was coming soon. The day is bigger than TDL for some Canucks fans. GMJB can’t get this one right no matter what he does. If he claims him, he’ll be too late and should have done it before Dipietro was brought up. And if he doesn’t, he’ll be a coward for not doing anything about the hihgway robbery earlier.

no win situation

With Mazanec and Leighton both under contract now, the right move is to not claim McKenna. The Flyers screwed the Canucks, and it sucks, but claiming McKenna is not in the Canucks' best interest now.

We are too close to the contract limit now to claim anyone.

Leave room for Hughes and any other NCAA signings.

The Flyers played pretty fast and loose with the rules to keep all those goalies s long as they did.

Contracts can be easily shed if necessary. DSP is a serviceable player with size, toughness and skill. I'd take a chance on him and absolutely waive Schaller.

Waiving a player still counts towards the 50 contract limit (unless he gets claimed) and Hughes will also use up a spot.  Teams like to keep flexibility to be in the bidding for college or junior free agents - burning a year of their ELC could be a deciding factor.  Last year trading Vanek meant taking Jokinen's contract back with Motte.
