Hey partner why don't you give the boeser bashing a rest.  We get it. He's unsigned so you can spout off. Teams struggled for a few years. How about getting behind them.

I don't think @stawns is bashing him, just trying to speculate on the rumours that Boeser's agent is looking for 7 mil/season or more.

Just for comparison's sake...  here are the top paid forwards in the league under the age of 27 and between 5 to 9 mil/season.

Edit: First number is the cap hit.

How is it bashing when it's facts? If you read his remarks not once does @stawns say not sign him....his pointing out the flaws in Brock's games and if you can't handle hearing that to bad and maybe try engaging in a conversation instead of basically calling him out for not support the team....and here I thought the kids were back in school

Boesers deal will get done and all the silly comments about what should happen will be moot.

Fans of the canucks will be fans and the sun will come up.

Talk to you guys when the season starts and we can all be on the same page and pulling together for the team to do well.

I think a bridge deal is best for both sides at this point. 3x7. Boeser gets a big pay day and the Canucks get another chance to sign him long term after QH and EP are resigned. Boeser also has to keep improving to get a further increase next time around.

yes and no. If he gets one of these back loaded deals he gets the big raise if we want to keep him, or if we can't afford it he walks.

Apparently Marner is looking at a 3 year deal that would require a 12-13 mil QO at the end of it. Watch Dubas do that, I bet he does.

That sucks!!

If all the remaining RFAs do that then that'll be the norm going forward for the next batch of RFA bridge deals.

Based on Jims history i doubt he's lowballing Boeser on money, the hold up has to be this back loading trend.

If BB has a back loaded deal like Meier where the QO is $10M, do you still make the QO if BB is 70-80pt player?

If not, then he becomes a UFA.  And Nucks get nothing in return.

dunno, maybe? depends what the cap is and what the other deals are I suppose, and what the UFA options might be.

its a crappy trend. It makes these guys harder to trade too since any other team will just get them likely for 1 year rental and/or have to pick up the big QO.

Interestingly enough Hughes will also be a 10.2(c) RFA in 2 seasons, so you have to think about the effect of Brocks deal on that one.

You'd think some of these guys would want mostly bonus money for the potential lock out year. The back loaded deals so far are mostly salary which they would lose, but that bonus money gets paid no matter what I believe.

Or term...  I suspect the team wants nothing to do with a 4 or 5 year term, and the agent really wants a 4 or 5 year term to give his side as much leverage as possible in the next negotiations.  The actual salary expectations would change a lot depending on the term.

If we're only getting 3 years, the deal will be way under $7m. If he/his agent wants $7m+, he'll need to be signing for 6 years +.

“Comparables sometimes play a part in a negotiation, but in the case of these players, they really don’t — unless you’re comparing yourself to a 10.2(c) player.”

The last star 10.2c winger was Johnny Gaudreau who signed for 6x6.75 in 2016.

Given the raise in contracts since then, I think 6-6.5 is the best Brock can hope for given 3 years.

The thing I have a hard time wrapping my head around, is that Boeser is not more valuable to this team then Horvat is. Why should he be holding out for a significant increase in what Bo gets?

1.) Inflation.

2.) Horvat’s contract is an absolute bargain.

That hat being said...it’s purely speculative to say he’s holding out for a significant increase on what Bo gets.
