      Somehow I reacted to that.

  3. Olli Maatta is starting to come into his own. He is 23. A good template for why patience with Juolevi is needed.

@Ossi VaananenI didn't say that they are similar because they are Finnish, you're the one making presumptions. Read scouting reports on both (http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/prospect-interest-411-olli-juolevi/). So maybe don't act like such an asshole?

    3. Ossi Vaananen

      Ossi Vaananen

Asshole? I gave it right back to you 'Has to be one of the dumbest arguments ....' I could say the same of yourself. Now, in the future if you are to make comparisons, make one of a high draft pick making the team at 20+. That would be more accurate than Juolevi/Maatta.

    4. King Heffy

      King Heffy

Eye test on the Knights is very similar.  It's a reasonable comparison and hopefully he develops properly.

  4. Virtanen as the extra forward in practice today. I thought he did more with his ice time than any other Canuck last night.

I'm surprised to hear that. I thought Virt played well last night. Maybe Boeser is going to slot in.

    3. Vinny in Vancouver

      Vinny in Vancouver

Hopefully, Green won't be doing the Superman-Clark Kent routine with Boeser and Virtanen all season.

    4. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

Word on the street is Boeser has his parents in town and he will get to start off the his year with the big line on Horvat's wing and Baertschi as the other partner.

Virtanen should be playing based on merit.

Gagner, Dorsett, or Burmistrov should make way.

Jets are the biggest team in the league. If Green is gonna play that matchup card he will want Dorsett to stay in the lineup and Jake dont call me big country Virtanen as well.

I also don't like Edler on the pp and Hutton and Stecher being a pair.

      Baertschi-Horvat-Boeser

      Sedin-Sedin-Vanek

      Granlund-Gagner-Eriksson

      Virtanen-Sutter-Dorsett

Burmistrov the odd man out though he hasn't really been as average as Gagner.

Guance coming back in 4 weeks will complicate things further and may trigger Virtanen or Biega heading to Utica to make room.

Even if they send Guance on a conditional stint in Utica he remains waiver fodder.

Not enough physicality in hockey nowaday balance between speed and skill over size and hitting has gotten tilted too much in one direction.

No way. This is the best time of year. Canucks are playing again, the NFL is bloody awesome (but like the NHL it has its flaws), and the MLB playoffs definitely has its moments. It's a great time of year to be a sports fan.

I got topped up with 8 inoculations before I went traveling, some were updates for home stuff, and some were for the areas I was visiting. A measles mumps rubella refresher was one of the top ups. Vaccines work.

  7. On Wednesday I listened to Alex Auld on SN 650. Was very well-spoken. He'll be a daily guest. I know where I'm going for sports radio at noon.

  8. on.the.bench is a great follow if you're on Instagram.

  9. Signing reclamation UFAs to shorter-term contracts is how you rebuild, not a sign that the Canucks are not committed to a rebuild.

    1. Warhippy

      Warhippy

I'd argue 2 and 3 year deals with cap hits that are as low as $3 million or less is exactly how you rebuild if you're in our timeline.  Great term, hits and solid pump and dump ability at the TDL's to shelter the kids who will be coming up 1 by 1 or 2 by 2 for the next few seasons.

This is the first year a bunch of our kids, like a full crop will hit Utica so it's not a bad idea for stop gaps to be signed IMO only

Would you rather be Colorado be out of it in December, and still draft 4th overall?

    3. SedinMadness

      SedinMadness

I believe the canucks learned from edmonton. you need a balance of veterans mixed in with the youth your trying to develop. I like what they are doing. also i believe the canucks know their luck now in the lotto draft just as ghost mentioned.

  10. For the quarter-season season ticket packages, does anyone know when they will release information about which games are included?

  11. I took my dog for a walk and when I got back the entire league changed.

  13. My biggest gripe with the analytics community was that they paid no attention to measurement. Nice to see some locals doing some good work:

@S'all Good ManI pronounce it correctly.  However, Buffalo is a border city so I'm pretty aware of the proper pronunciation of Canadian hockey players.

the worst one of all is "Parise". He even does it to himself.

That's probably #3 for me, Joe. I'm a Nesquik man.

  16. In 2012, Brian Burke said he would have taken M. Rielly first overall (drafted 5th). Fast forward to today and he might have been right to have done so.

Rielly, Forsberg, Lindholm would be my top-3 in a re-draft.

    3. ReggieBush

      ReggieBush

Lindholm>>>Reilly imo. I do not think Reilly is a #1 Dman on contender

    4. Ghostsof1915

So what he gave up two first rounders and a second for Kessel. A broken clock is right twice a day.

  17. Overall I don't think Edler had a terrible season, but it is awful to think that in the last 15 games he has earned more than a million dollars to barely lift his skates off the ice.

  18. Hockey early on a Sunday? Good. Pierre and Doc on the broadcast? Terrible.

    1. Green Building

      Green Building

I like Doc's voice. He's the American version of Bob Cole. Canada needs another Bob Cole, but I'm not holding my breath.

    2. Down by the River

      Down by the River

I think Bob Cole is the greatest. Perfect cadence. I think Doc is a caricature of what a PBP guy should be. He makes up the weird obnoxious phrases to describe simple plays. Its like a children's ad lib with that guy on every dump in.

    3. Green Building

      Green Building

Well yeah, Doc is 2nd to Cole because Americans are 2nd to Canadians at everything hockey

      :bigblush:

Like many of us, I grew up listening to Cole call playoff games. There was nothing else like it and playoffs these days feel slightly hollow because of, well, time.

  19. Burrows with more goals than Eriksson.

Love Burr.  If only Errikson played with half of Burr's passion.

    3. smithers joe

      smithers joe

happy for burr, good on him. louie will shine next year.

  20. I think Canucks would benefit from trading a dman, but for me, Hutton is too promising and Eddie won't waive. Leaves Tanev and Sbisa and I don't think they'll find a partner.

  21. Burrows: Thanks for the memories and contribution to the community.

  22. At this point I think Dallas would offer Seguin for Miller or Markstrom.

We will even throw in the signature 2nd round pick to sweeten the pot.

  23. Didn't expect it, but Hank might beat Ovie in the race to 1,000.
