Is today the worst day of the year to be a fan of sports?
-
Is there a Battle of Alberta thread? There should be a Battle of Alberta thread. This rivalry is back, its real, and its spectacular.
-
You could piss on my shoes and somehow I'd be less annoyed with you than the person that tells me "Thanks in advance" when they sign off on their email.
-
Is there anyone that shows less interest in serving you that an old lady working at a grocery store deli?

Draisaitl is more valuable to the Oilers than McDavid.

I see it as the exact opposite. Draisaitl is responsible for doing all the little things that free up McDavid. He takes draws, he retrieves loose pucks/wins puck battles. McDavid gets to focus almost exclusively on the offensive side of the puck, which is pretty atypical of someone who is a quote-unquote center.
-
@Down by the River I appreciate your perspective. There is definitely an argument there. McDavid does back check and win pick battles too. @Coconuts They are definitely benefactors if each other!

Lebron James is great at taking stands against social injustice when he has a chance to directly profit from it. A lot harder to stand up for someone's rights when the system violating those rights makes you millions.

Lebron says he was talking about the implications of critiquing China while players are in China. How about this. If you are in business with someone and you fear that they will bring you harm because of something said by someone else that you have a loose affiliation with, maybe this isn't someone you should be in business with? Or, feel free to continue doing business with them but step off your pedestal before you do it.

Does anyone use meal delivery services like Fresh Prep or Hello Fresh?

Bought a new car and now the thought of "could I have gotten a better deal elsewhere?" is eating my brain alive.

This story + Spittin Chiclets podcast further adds to my appreciation of Crosby.
He makes my top 5 of all time for sure... maybe top 3.

Wait 2.99 per month to read the article?! lol... it's the internet, there's plenty of free content out there.
Personally I came on board with respecting Sid after I saw this video - I really respect that he comes back home in the city that made him and gives back to the community by training with the kids there.
I have almost no respect for guys like Sakic that pretty much did as little as possible to give back to Burnaby

@apollo And what about the Twins, who invested heavily in Vancouver instead of their hometown of Ornskoldsvik?

Can anyone recommend a gun range open to the public on Vancouver Island?

@CBH1926 It's where I shot my baby.

Bob Cole is the GOAT, it is not even close. His last game, ever, will be this Saturday (Mtl/TO).

^ Jim Hughson had potential, but he totally mailed it in once he got the top CBC spot. Even when he calls TO games, he just doesn't seem to do it for me any more. The reason why I put Cole > Hewitt is because of longevity. He's been doing this for 50 years. I've never known a world where Bob Cole wasn't calling games... and this is true for about half of all hockey fans.

Brady Keeper's NHL debut tonight. Heard his story on the Spittin Chicklets podcast. Almost quit college hockey to move home to take care of his family. Even when he was called up to FLA, he didn't have enough $ for a flight. Kid has a ton of character.

@RRypien37 I didn't really explain that well. I think it was like an oversized baggage cost. A mentor in college covered the cost. Kid had 63 cents in his bank account. Has two kids (one biological) and is just 22. Really incredible.

If the NHL is going to keep collecting +/- data, they should at least stop giving guys a -/+ for an empty net goal.

Crosby on an absolute tear.

Crosby is a more complete player. I think McDavid is a better player, offensively, and could probably out skate Crosby, but all around Crosby is better.
Sids defensive play is better, he's better at face offs, his accuracy is better, and his overall awareness is better. Sid is THE complete player. It's why he's better than Ovechkin, and it's why he's the greatest of all time.

Whatever happened to @CanucksHD? His videos were legendary.

Domi to Matheson:
"I saw you last game, you f****** suck"

Hopefully NYE in Vancouver is the turning point that leads to the swift implementation of ride-sharing.

Help me settle a bet with the wife. It is not normal for 25-30yr old guys to go to the tanning salon.

Is it a rule that all California-based arenas need to have terrible lighting?

@Cramarossa They definitely brightened the lights at SAP Center. Much better than it was last year.
-
It has been about 7 years since I was legitimately excited for your average regular season game. EP and co have made Canucks hockey fun again.
-
For the Prospect Tracker thread, which draft-eligible players do you want me to track? I'll track five guys. Hughes an obvious one. Who else do you want?
-
What proportion of Edmonton goals will McDavid be in on?
I'm guessing like .60...

Anyone know why there are no games on Friday?

How do I change my location?

Canucks just sent an email to season ticket holders announcing that the Canucks are playing Calgary tomorrow night....
