[Rumour] "Teams eyeing down Kesler & Edler" - Ownership prevented Kesler trade

Recommended Posts

I have no idea how people think the right idea is to trade Kesler. Ridiculous to trade one of our few legitimate centre's who can play one of the best two way games. We need to ADD to our top six, not stay the same or lose it. Our defensive depth should be what is moved for an addition to our top two lines to actually create legitimate 2nd line, for once.

No thank you.

You wouldn't want one of the best penalty killers (at the age of 20, no less), who has offensive upside AND a guy who has just as many goals as Kesler, who plays third line minutes?

Oh and you get their top prospect.

So much of this seems predicated on the Sedins being the top guys. We STILL build lineups around them?! I could buy that 3 or 4 yrs back, but the world keeps turning, & we're ALL a little older.

It's a question of balance. Retain parts we need to maintain a competitive squad; yet it's those very parts that would net the beauty returns. There's no point in dealing pieces which have disintegrated in value(eg:Burrows).

If there's no point in counting on the old core, it's time to cut ties, deal, & get younger/bigger/deeper. Keep a few of the older, disciplined vets as teachers/examples, & let's get on with this.

It's time for MG to break his NTC "policy", en masse. He can say these vets wanted to move on, realizing the rebuild was on(though if done well, it shouldn't take that long, in fact).

Both should be 100% untouchable. I'll be choked if either is moved.

Alright let's stand pat and not try and trade our two most lucrative trade assets when their value is at their highest and let's turn into the Calgary Flames. Actually, because the future looks so bright, lets not even bother trading anybody because we haven't seen the true Canucks this season. We are only a top six winger from being a contender again, right folks?

Kesler is better on the penalty kill then Couturier

Read has 1 less goal then Higgins and 5 less then Kesler

And how many 2way center prospects do we need?

Your right we need to become Calgary...Better trade Horvat, Gaunce, Shink, and Jensen to keep on course...If we keep them we will not turn into Calgary

Pretty much but again, really really doubt Kes is traded AT LEAST this year. He's the heart and soul player of the team and a fan fav (lots of revenue). If he was, we'd get a bucket full of gems. Kesler traded = we get his weight in gold back in return.

he is NOT the heart and soul of this team .. he's a great player but dont get mixed up .. this guy is not loved in the room ..

God awful trades being proposed here. Keep that garbage to the kooky armchair GM forum.

Also, Gillis said yesterday that Edler has been playing through a knee injury which has been slowly getting better. Makes sense why his foot speed seemed to be slower and he was less physical. It's questionable whether Torts should have put him and Garrison on the same line given this but maybe he didn't have much else to work with by the time the injury happened.
