J.Markstrom.

thats a decent team, imagine all of them producing in different ways. but i dont think that Sestito would fit in our new coach system. He wants a fast skating and puck moving game. Hopefully he can keep up or get better. I really want to see Bo Horvat in our lineup next season.

No thanks.

Ehrhoff would not stand up for himself or his teammates during the 2011 playoffs.

You have to at least go in the scrum and grab somebody and hug them to death ala Bubla.

That was the whole team and that was because of how Gillis wanted them to play.

Assuming Tanev gets around 2.5 mil, Kassian gets 1.5, and Hansen is on his way out (Dorsett makes him expendable IMO), we have roughly 14 million to spend on two roster spots.

We obviously have holes in our top 6 and on D, so what is the best way to spend this money? Does Benning sign a goalie?

What are some options people like? Statsny? Bolland? Boyle? Niskanen? Iginla? Richards?

Side note: no Mason Raymond. What have you been watching? He petered out in Toronto too.

I was thinking, why do you say 2 roster spots? I have a felling Benning isn't done and more than just 2 roster spots are open. Benning's prudent money management is showing early with his Kesler return and Garrison return. I think he'll have more to work with because he's going to get rid of more dead wood, Hansen comes to mind.

You do know Ehrhoff isn't that type of player right?

We also have to sign Vey for around $1m.

My estimation of what this team looks like without any other trades is something like this.

We have about $10mil in cap with a full roster, plus or minus any traded contracts. It doesn't seem like we have roster spots for any free agents unless we move players out.

What did we do with Kassian?

If there were no takers for Ehrhoff, we could have just offerd like a 7th round pick and we would have had out PMD on a very good contract. Seems like a missed opportunity imo

And then when he retires we'd be screwed with cap penalties. It was a ridiculous contract

Theres a reason BUF bought him out.

Only 7 years left, I think he could play til he's 39 tbh. Dmen have a longer life span in the NHL. Plus it's buffalo that would be screwed if he retires, but there are ways around the cap penalty like what Philly and Boston are doing to Pronger and Savard. Just say the player is "injured" and place him on "LTIR". It's a win win for both the player and the team.

I'm sure that's what's going to happen with Luongo since he likely won't play out his contract

Pronger and Savard are never coming back.

We can't just leave on LTIR for this the rest of his career even if he's cleared to play.

LTIR implies that at some point they should be back. But the fact that they never will means they should retire. Boston and Philly are cheating the system. It's disgusting
