Ilya Kovalchuk.
To be honest, I don't think these deals are as bad as they look initially. With the cap steadily increasing, a few years down the road these deals can be a little less expensive. Over the past 6 years, the cap has steadily increased roughly $14 million. KoreanHockeyFan
yea.... lets not go there.. Basketball>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>hockey in the United states. Also Toes and Kane with all due respect is no Lebron James of hockey. Yeah I know. It was just more of a response to a post that said contracts were getting ridiculous. darkpoet
This is great news. It means so long as those two guys are eating up over $20 million a year, it'll be difficult for Chicago to stay as competitive as they were. Too bad it wasn't more. lol
Moonshinefe
http://blackhawkup.com/2014/07/07/reports-patrick-kane-jonathan-toews-receive-10-8-annually/ Edit: They do say it isn't #confirmed yet, for what it's worth. But it sounds like 10.8 is likely.
darkpoet
Just remember in a few years the cap will be much higher. Not necessarily. Even so, it behooves GM's to not get ridiculous with money because we've all seen what these huge contracts do to teams. It never ends well. We lost Schneider, who likely would have provided us with top notch goaltending for the forseeable future, because Luongo was signed to a retarded contract. Good for the players, but never good for the TEAM.
Bure to Mogilny
Im reading blackhawk fans are not happy a bout this esp as each get a rase against the cap of $4.5 million plus saad is expected to ask for a raise of several million and there future looks pretty one dimensionall Posiblly $12-13 million addition a gainst the cap with the same three players without adding a single guy! So what do they do?!
canucks.brad
Hossa has like a 5.2 million contract till 2021 and he is 35. Chicago one of the worst gms. fyi dale tallon signed hossa. did you mean chicago has one of the worst GMs? refresh my memory, how many cups have the Blackhawks won in recent years? oh wait..2. who got to the conference finals last year? oh the Blackhawks... i don't know what constitutes "worst" in your books, but i certainly don't think that is the case here at the end of the day, Toews and Kane deserve every penny they get. do I think they will end up asking/getting $10.8 million? not a chance. Bowman will evaluate after next years cap imo, and probably settle around $8 million a year.

Nuxfanabroad
It's folly to believe that some/anything will continually expand. Defies gravity. Also resent how much revenue is drained from a mere 7 Northern franchises. It would be a hoot to know precise league numbers(as I never buy ducats). Our addicted fanbases, support their welfare-sunbelt. IF a Canadian professional league had been established(WHA-Cdn style), I would've been all for it! edit-I mean 'a hoot', insofar as I have no $ personally involved; but I am curious as to the precise numbers their apathetic markets vacuum from the passionate markets. ^Think about this socialist/unionist approach, which is the preserve of rich pro athletes; meanwhile the working classes lost such balanced policies several decades back. Double standards which are nausea-inducing.
DownUndaCanuck
Almost a third of their cap eaten up by two players, they'll regret this signing later in their contracts. Toews and Kane realistically have maybe 4 or 5 years left of solid 1st line hockey left in them if that. Their final 2-3 years of their contract will essentially be 3rd line players scoring 15 goals a season for 10M
