Dmitry Zhukenov | C

Recommended Posts

Sounds like Datzhuk will be relied upon quite heavily, according to the Sagueneens GM:

He said something along the lines of: "Zhukenov is a talented player, he's fast and agile. He will possibly play on the first line next season. We are extremely happy to have acquired him."

Things are starting to sound even better and better about this guy.

I was scared to even look up the Canucks 2007 draft.

1st Rounder Patrick White: Traded to San Jose eventually as part of the Ehrhoff trade. So I suppose we got something out of him. Last season White played in 26 KHL games and had 0 points with a -15. Moved to a Slovakian league to get 24 points in 32 games.

This is great news for sure!

I hope Jasek comes over next year!

Are both likely to make their WJC teams?

A few questions about scouting

1. Why do we not even know who all these scouts are?

2. Why is the scouting heirarchy so secret in our organization ?

3. When a player is picked how come we rarely know which scout identified and advocated for him ( who to blame vs who to reward)

4. I hope teams keep a database of the players they thought were good and bad so 10 yrs down the line they can see where they were right and wrong thereby better identifying the hood scouts vs bad

5. Why do we rarely hear why a player was deemed bPA vs others aside from the just listing a bunch of adjectives - they never go into how they decided boeser was bPA over juulsen or harkins. We also rarely hear how a player was first identified ex: did JB see brisebois and Jasek at Ivan Hlinka for the first time or did he know about them before?

Anyone with any insights?

Something funny I just found out recently. Russian's usually have a noun in their surnames, something like Kozlov (Goat), Sorokin (Magpie),etc....
Dmitrij Zhukenov has the word Zhuk in his name. дмитрий жукенов is his name spelt in Russian. Try put in жук in google :) Datzhuk is a little funny when you know what Zhuk means :P

2nd Rounder Taylor Ellington: Never even made a career in the AHL. Couldn't really make it out of the ECHL, and last season played in Denmark. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=11695

5th Rounder Charles-Antoine Messier: Looks like he didn't do much out of the QMJHL. Played in university for 3 seasons with nothing after 2012. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=12162

5th Rounder Ilya Kablukov: Career KHLer. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=13965

6th Rounder Taylor Matson: Never really cracked the AHL. Pretty good in ECHL but went to Europe. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=12562

7th Rounder Dan Gendur: Couldn't even manage ECHL and plays in lower leagues now. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=13603

Trust me, I'm not defending the Noner, but 07 was a weak sauce draft for the entire league. Besides Kane/PK, there's a lot of.......just weakness (chime in all the ppl saying but what about so and so......). Go ahead and rip Noner all u want but it would be more convincing if you picked a draft year where everyone made out like a bandit except Noner.

Angelo Esposito. .......seriously?

They literally have a page that tells you all the scouts that work for the team....

(scroll to the bottom)

http://canucks.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=86312

and as for your "hierarchy"

It's something like:

-Benning

-Weisbrod

-Crawford

-Delorme

-Gradin
