I think if they did sign Franson, they would start actively shopping Smid or Engelland. The other would be #7. Also, they may decide to trade Russell. He's UFA in 1 year, and no way will they be able to afford his raise, with extensions needed for Giordano, Monahan, and Gaudreau. I don't care what people say about Franson and him being soft, he's a hell of alot better than Weber. Weber should be nothing more than a 7th D-man on a good team.
