-Vintage Canuck-
@BrettCyrgalis #Isles sign Steve Bernier to a one-year, $750,000 deal. It's a one-way deal.
Master Mind
Solid replacement for Grabner. He'll be a good addition to their bottom six.
coryberg
must have had some outside interest, went from PTO to contact in a week.
DeltaSwede
must have had some outside interest, went from PTO to contact in a week. Probably prioritzed having Nelson sign and clearing room with the Grabner trade as well. Snow is running his club smartly. This is a good cheap signing. This is a good cheap signing. You sure that clearing cap space was an issue for the Isles? After signing Nelson and before signing Bernier, they had almost 9 schmil in cap space. Doubt that Snow was anguishing over clearing cap space to sign Bernier.
Apple Juice
Didn't know he still played. Thought he was in the Euro league
RonMexico
Bernier is terrible. Just another big guy who plays small. Too bad it didn't work out that we got Backes and St Louis stole Bernier away. Instead, both teams matched and we ended up with the dud.

Bernier is a solid 3/4 on a weak team. Happy he got this contract
KeslerPlaysLikeACanadian
He's only terrible relative to the expectations put on someone drafted so high.

HC20.0
Bernier never became the goal scorer he was projected to be, but he is one hell of a bottom 6 player. Good signing for the Isles.
selkirkcraig
Fine. He is a terrible NHL'er, not a terrible hockey player. wrong again! anyone who can play 600 games in the nhl is not terrible; nor are his 32 pts in 62 games last year. Pears
Don't think the Isles will break up the Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck line, so I could see them going with something like this if MDC is ready Nelson - Tavares - Okposo Dal Colle - Strome - Kulemin/Grabovski/Bailey Lee - Nielsen - Bernier Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck Definetly have a log jam at forwards, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them make another move or two. Coconuts
Decent third/fourth liner, always liked him. He had a pretty good year last season too, nice to see him catch on somewhere.

It's looking like the islanders don't have a playoff roster. I'm thinking they miss the big dance.

It was probably more a $$ issue than a cap issue. The Islanders aren't a cap team by any means and Grabner was due $5 million in salary this year, while only having a cap hit of 3 mill. He also shows up in the playoffs, at least in terms of effort.
