I think Pettersson skipped the sophomore jinx whereas Hughes didn’t skip it.

This year Pettersson is living that jinx.

Patience.

Yah, Boeser also had the sophomore jinx although that might have been due to his injury as well.  Boeser besides that year and the beginning of this season has been a beast for us, so hopefully this is Pettersson's year before he gets back to being a beast.

He'll get back to his beastly ways.

Have you seen Twitter? Crazy. Some people talking about trading Petey, and how he's not Rutherford's guy.

Really hope Petey goes wherever the Sedins decide to spend the off season cause he kinda need whatever workouts they did that one off season to break out.

Petey lack of gym time and strength is really starting to show. He will be fine if he can get to the Sedin's level of fitness.

Pettersson reminds of the Sedin's when they first came in the league. He needs to be around 195 lbs and take BO Horvat's power skating course .Allso I dont care what hockey market your in if a hold out is to be a top paid player you better produce . $90 grand a game for .5 points per game production doesn't get it.

It is crazy. Twitter is a nightmare.

But the funniest part is when crazies talk about trades - because their brains don't work, they always want to trade players at their lowest value.

A month ago nobody wanted to trade Miller even though he was perhaps our only forward that could have garnered full value.

But yeah, let's trade Petterson when he's just signed a huge contract and is obviously struggling...for.... a fifth and futures?

Wait until he get's back to his beastly ways as you say and is back at top value - and where will all that trade chatter be?

Pettersons value will still be high. There will be teams who will bet on him getting back to his old ways.     You should get a top prospect and a first.

I would question how much he has invested into off season training.  He is not any quicker this year and at the beginning of the year he got knocked down very easily. He seems to have gotten better as the year has gone on. He should have showed up ready to go.

If you want to an elite player your training and better be up to a high level.

Well that's exactly my point.

Because you're correct that a top prospect and a first is high value.

But it's bargain bin for Pettersson. And it proves how psycho and emotionally-based most of us hockey fans are.

There is a big risk in dealing him on both sides. He may get back to his old ways and become a number one center. If they sit back and wait and he finishes the year showing no improvement then you are stuck with a third line center that you are paying 7.3mil.  Lets be honest here, he is still a solid NHL player and will improve in lots of other ways.

every yea cdc will pick on a young player to trash.. couple years ago it was boeser after coming off multiple injuries. then last year it was hughes, this year it's pettersson. next year probably be hoglander then the year after that will be podz. let's just trash every single young guys we draft and ship them for picks and prospect coz that's what a lot of ppl on cdc wants anyways.
