No you wouldn't be discriminated against you might be called names but no one will ever be charged for that. Now if you don't get a job because of that then we have a problem.

I think harassing someone who is trans is against the law. So I think you could get away with saying something offensive but if you continued to persistently go at someone you could fall under the purview of C16. I haven't checked but at least that was I read when people were freaking about free speech in relation to C16.

Hate speech is illegal. Sure you can toss insults and likely nothing will happen but at the end of the day hate speech is illegal. It does step on the toes of free speech imo but that being said we really don't need a society where everyone hates one another, we would pretty much be America north.

@Jimmy McGill @Toews @Warhippy @ForsbergTheGreat I would like to have a 2019 election thread instead of this Trudeau unpopular thread to discuss the upcoming election. I know it's early but leaders of each party are already starting to position themselves.

@debluvscanucks @diesel_3 @StealthNuck @Monty would something like that be alright?

I think the vests are all over Canada. Is this the same group as the vests in Europe?

Sigh no.  I could get behind the movement here if they were but they're not

The yellow vests in France are fighting for their countrymen.  For their people.  They are essentially advocating socialist style demands at the loss of the mega wealthy, multi national corporations and at a net loss to money grubbing politicians.  Up to and including better services for immigrants

Here, they are a bunch of numpty in yellow vests screaming about muslims, something about $600 million in payments to the media to buy them off (seriously) the opening of the borders (which has not and will never happen) and the arrest of Trudeau for corruption (which is a total joke as he's thus far dumb but hasn't committed any crimes)

Our yellow vests are literally yellowing white power slogans and threatening immigrants and immigration while in France they are literally fighting for better treatment for immigrants and their own people.

I'd be perfectly ok with it.  But ask we instead leave out Jaghgmeet Singh and the soon to be 4th place NDP under his rule after he loses his election bid in Burnaby

Just go make it.

We know there will be an election in the fall.

Conservatives are clearly campaigning right now with all the Scheer ads

That's what I would do. The mods can combine the two threads, if they decide they're redundant.

There's already laws for that and it doesn't include just trans people, it's for everyone! (How inclusive!). It's redundant law.

I believe the language issue is deciding what exactly defines 'harassment'. Does accidentally calling someone him/her when they identify as 'other' constitute 'harassment'. Some people seem to think so. Dangerous and slippery slope there.
