Solinar
Wow, just looking at both Montreal's and Ottawa's rosters for this season, and I'm glad I'm a Canucks fan https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/senators https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canadiens Now that you can take a look at who's on the Roster, and who the prospects are, anyone in for trading Gaunce, Granlund, and Gagner for Bobby Ryan and Logan Brown? Solinar
But its better than Tanev, Granlund, and a 2nd for Karlsson! I know its taking on a big contract, for a few more years, but Logan Brown has upside, and it clears a problem area for us, while addressing some lack of skill in the Senators line-up. Looks better if Sens eat a little bit of salary, and he's off the books at the same time as Roussel and Beagle. Ryan is a better hockey player than he's shown in Ottawa, and he'd be playing with a better forward group as well. Its a gamble, but it could prove to be a good one if everything worked out right. Have also been advocating a(cap-weaponizing) deal with Dorion & the Hens. Take back Gaborik, not Ryan!

I think you could get the better deal with Ryan, and the Sens get 2 decent scoring and stop gap centers as well as another center/winger in the Granlund, Gaunce, Gagner deal. Which they could probably flip into more assets if they wanted to, or try to not be a lotto pick since their picks is with Colorado. You look at that Ottawa lineup and wow, they need everything they can get, and on the cheap besides. Plus the cap hit almost evens out to make it worthwhile. I hope OTT has a bounce-back yr(however unlikely)..hate seeing the Avs get rich from that earlier shyte deal.

In this two(or 3?) tiered, rigged deck, Vegas casino-league, the Cdn franchises mostly serve as a conveyor, feeder system for key, privileged US markets. I wish the WHA had morphed(back in 1980) into some kind of pro Cdn league, separate from the US franchises(back in 1980). Tired of 7 Cdn franchises being connected to a nation/culture I simply don't believe and/or trust. & yeah..sling mud at me for saying that - I don't really care. Ever since Bettman showed up, Cdn franchises/cities got royally screwed.

Recall a few months back, you decided I was a "difficult poster" :^) One thing off the hop, is I don't do 'debate'. Fine with me if people hold myriad views on diff matters..that's all of little consequence. People commit a lot of time, $, hope(faith, belief, dreams, bible quotes, etc...) to pro sport. It's understandable some get irked when one concludes(& states) it ain't honest. For me the Canucks(pro hockey) is an old addiction, dating from my youth. No kid loved NHL hockey more, especially back in the 70's & 80's. I WISH that I could find this league trustworthy! That'd be great. Unfortunately I haven't liked how it's been run, from about the early 90's. This particular thread is about all of us rubbernecking at the noisy, head-on collision, at the intersection of Sens Dr & Habbies Boulevard. From the background emanates approaching sirens, wailing children, shouting belligerent adults, & the shrill accusatory cries of adult ladies(laying blame). One gesticulating character(in a noisy suit) is trying to explain everything to everyone. But there's blood, broken glass & two obvious write-offs to account for. At the end of the day... I'd prefer a pro league in both Canada, & the US. Champion from each play for the Cup. I'd even be open to a Euro league entering the fray, if all rules(& ice dimensions) were streamlined/agreed upon. The bullying US tries to control/win at EVERYTHING(culture, sport, biz, sociopolitics..you name it). It squeezes the life out of anything worthwhile. NewbieCanuckFan
Unfortunately for Habfans, *if* Carey Price can be healthy, he's good enough to cover a number of flaws (no he isn't Thanos with all the infinity gems, but he can raise the team from a lottery team to mediocre). Nucker 67
Jean Beliveau must be rolling in his grave. What happened to the mighty, respected Montreal Canadiens? Bergevan really messed up a lot over the years. Yet, he still appears as arrogant as ever. Another thing I noticed from watching the 2018 Draft, seeing Melnyk and Dorion together before the draft, laughing and joking, all smiles. Do they not have a clue what's happening? lol

wallstreetamigo
Melnyk is the worst owner in the NHL and Bergevin is the worst GM. Montreal ownership is solid minus the obvious owner with a goat photos Bergevin must have to still have his job. Dorion seems like a below average GM but the moves in Ottawa are all Melnyk induced.
