He is a competitor and we need guys with that compete level. He may not be the guy who steers the ship anymore, but he can be a top 6 forward for us if we can ice a better team. Perry is pretty much useless and has a lot more negative value as an asset than LE. NYI wants to be aggressive in free agency. Trotz talks about how they lack high end talent up front. That's not Perry anymore. They are also a great skating team. Carolina is all speed - probably the fastest team in the league. He wouldn't be able to keep up. Colorado is similar to Carolina - young and fast. Sakic talks of free agency and the team improving. Don't think he wants to use a roster spot on a slowing down veteran. It's hard to see a landing spot for him with the league so much faster. Anaheim is rebuilding. They are trying to move Perry because they want to give his ice time to their prospects. They don't need the cap space and don't want to add veterans.
