This is too much money because how can you justify giving EP anything less then $10, when he comes up for a contract?

EP was going to. Get more than $10M far before this news came out. Nylander’s contract, and the increasing cap, made sure of that.

Don’t be surprised if, when EP negotiates his contract, that his AAV is in the $13M range.

Ok let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. He still has a couple years to prove he is the real deal before Canucks throw him that kind of money!

I thought numbers couldn’t really be discussed until July first?  Brooks is allowing himself to be used be Panarin’s agent to inflate the market.  If Parnarin is worth 11.5, then Marner is worth 13.

I thought the entire layout of a contract CAN be discussed.

You just can't sign anything until July 1st.  Is that wrong?

I think they can’t discuss actual dollars and cents.  Of course they do though.

Which, and it’s certainly possibility that it is, that would account for 14.4% of the teams total salary. Which is in line for elite franchise players in relation to their club, which EP and his track record have given every indication that he will be to the Canucks.

If a team has an elite franchise player, then you don’t mind paying that money to them. That just means you have a player every other team in the NHL wishes they had.

And Kravtsov.

Yeah people can't be sleeping on Kravtsov. He's as rich of a prospect as they come - and it makes me happy that we have Podkolzin on board. Although he wasn't the kind of offensive dynamo that Kravtsov & Denisenko were during the world juniors, his maturity alone made him a stand-out player.

Panarin would be an excellent fit in Vancouver, but for a variety of reasons it just ain't gonna happen. :(

It’s high for right now. But when you factor in the salary cap rising every year. Combined with the fact He’ll probably play with Kakko and put up ridiculous numbers, this contract won’t look bad in a couple years.

Everyone was gasping at Draistl’s contract and think of your view on it now. These contracts always look better a couple years in.

the way the league is shaping up you need atleast three elite or semi- elite players on your team. It’s shaping up to look like we have that possibly with Hughes and definitely with Elias. It’s more favourable to do this through the draft but I wouldn’t be against signing a legit all star.

where it straps us are the deals like LE. We  don’t get to play with money like Tampa. Which is why I think bringing back Gillis isn’t the worst idea. Let him deal with contracts and let Benning find the talent.

They are too depressing to count.
