61 points tho... I think using his line mates better could be the reason. The guys a bull that can crash the net which is always fun to watch but last season was pretty amazing imo given what he was handed.

Check this out: https://frozenpool.dobberhockey.com/players/bo-horvat

his most frequent line was just 7.5% of his ice time. 10 different line combo's. WTF?

Bo was playing with garbage much of the year ... arguably our best player.   This year with a season of Pearson and one of our they promising middle six players (Rousell maybe when he’s back, best 5 x 5 scorer on the team after EP)

Good times ahead, can’t wait to see what he can do with a healthy Sutter and Beagle behind him

Canucks can't all be one thing. Can't all be skill, you need speed and size too. Especially in the Western Conference.

For those that thought the best recipe for success was just speed and skill are in for a special treat. A team well balanced will be fun to watch and will provide more wins overall. Good times are ahead.

Agree with most of what you said... I'm looking forward to seeing Bo play with Ferland or Miller. I see Roussel as a great, tough third liner.

I honestly cant see why we aren't being predicted to make the playoffs with this half rebuilt roster

Me too.   Last year without the losing streak and just playing .500 instead we would have squeezed in.   Now we have a completely different team.  Upgraded in every position....and a bevy of middle six players that can or could have very good seasons playing on the second and even the third line.  Pearson, Ferland and Miller all have size to go along with JV, and although I don’t have high hopes Goldobin and LE still could surprise for different reasons.   Add Bear into the mix  and Green definitely could create three scoring lines with different looks.   At the very least the top three lines will have lots of pop and toughness, and the team will finally have the depth that we’ve been missing the past four or even five years.  And a lot of internal pressure to produce as well...

This could be the most important, hidden upgrade by GMJim, with his very impressive summer signings.

Players like LE have for too long appeared comfortable in their contracts, protected from rewarding management (or fans) with any great effort.

Perhaps now, they will receive some serious player accountability when floating back to the bench from continually timid shifts.

Those real pros who bleed pride, aren't usually shy about calling out shameful performances from teammates.  An agent's smallprint has no locker room protection.

The roster's suddenly looking stacked with some serious pushback, let's hope it begins in-house, right from first lace-up.

If the new guys prove up for it, then we could expect the likes of Jake to up his game in response.  He's intimidated no-one thus far.

Can't we at least dream for team '19 to reincarnate our character boys of '94?

Great point about Jake.

I agree about Jake. I do think this next season jv will up his game. I wonder if he’s doing some training again with Barber YouTube hockey guy this offseason.

I can’t wait to see this new version of the Canucks hit the ice. I’m super excited about this team. I really like how the roster is coming together.  Playoffs? I believe so and Canucks imo will be a very dangerous team to play against.

For me the big mystery is Miller. I really dont know too much about him honestly.

So im looking forward to see what he brings to the team.

Just 2months and a bit til season starts.

Wholeheartedly agree! For too long we have had this team, and its leaders, comfortable with its performance and give nothing but excuse after excuse for losses or lackluster on-ice performance. For those fans who were not around to witness the 94' team, you will see what we have been missing for a very long time. You will wonder why our team did not play like this before.

On Topic but off topic.  players weight.

Brock for instance put on mass muscles last season and it seemed to slow him down but some players like ex Canuck Wellwood played better with extra flab.

It’ll be interesting seeing who’s bigger at start of training camp. Will Brock trim down ?

In contrast, Laine on the jets lost weight before the start of last season as he was criticized by the fans for being slow and sluggish and was in his best physical shape so far in his career. He wound up having his worst year so far.

Seams like some players have certain comfort weight. Phil Kessel I think is one them if he lost weight and was in better shape I’m not sure if he’d benefit from it.

as far as Brock last year it looked like his upper body muscle weight probably slowed him down ,but I forgot he also had a groin injury that didn’t help him either.

Brock got pretty much ran over by a much heavier Kal Klutterback, which led to Brock’s back injury.  I think he gained muscle and weight, so he doesn’t get knocked flying, when he’s playing the right way.

Is it me or is Vancouver suddenly becoming a rather large team?

Even todays minor move suggests they have really gotten big quickly.

I didn't check yet to see if anyone made this joke in the thread before me but even if so,

Boeser has always been pretty slow. imagine how much more of a contributor he could be if he was able to get even just a tad bit faster.

Maybe the C logo on the front of the jersey means Cialis, and maybe the whale is a ....oh nevermind

The Canucks should be able to play any type of game against any team this season. They've got skill and speed, but also size and toughness. Those California trips should be fun to watch. Now, other teams can dread playing against Ferland.

  • 1 month later...

Now that people are actually showing up and skating the size is more than evident.

Now I'm wondering who are the small guys left. Is Petterson seen as small now he's beefed up.

Alex Biega, small, Sven Baetschi, Is Gaudette considered small.

Who else. Is that it?
