Popular Post AV's Coin
After graduating Petterson and Gaudette we fall from #3 to #8. Not bad! https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nhl/news/nhl-farm-system-rankings-best-worst-prospect-pipelines-for-2019-20-from-1-to-31/nqetpe1bdimp1ao3xl52v0hd0 8. Vancouver Canucks 2018-19 rank: 3rd Key additions: Nils Hoglander (RW), Vasily Podkolzin (RW) Graduated: Adam Gaudette (C), Elias Pettersson (C) Traded/not signed: Matt Brassard (RHD), Jonathan Dahlen (LW, SJS), Kristoffer Gunnarsson (LHD) Jim Benning's plan to beef up his organization with speed and skill continues to achieve benchmarks, as the Canucks not only received a Calder Trophy-winning season from electrifying 2017 first-round pick Elias Pettersson but now have playmaking puck rusher Quinn Hughes ready to challenge for a full-time role and his own hardware. Vancouver added a bulldog of a competitor in Russian-trained winger Vasily Podkolzin, who was the 10th pick in June although he likely stays overseas for at least another season. Benning and staff also scooped up feisty forward Nils Hoglander from Sweden and speedy center Tyler Madden from Northeastern who tied for fourth in freshman scoring in Hockey East. This group, along with two stud goalie prospects, Thatcher Demko and Michael DiPietro, represent a sizable chunk of the organization's future, one that already includes established NHL producers like Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser. Now that the nucleus has formed, the Canucks can patiently follow the progress of an impressive tier of potential point-producing defensemen like Olli Juolevi, Toni Utunen, Jett Woo, and Jack Rathbone. Popular Post flat land fish
Appears to be some recency bias on the 2019 picks but that’s a pretty deep top 10 with good potential for most to see nhl action. Lots of D coming which should be ready as Tanev/elder replacements in a few years. 4
taskicon
It's great to see Nils Hoglander as our number 4 best prospect. To be selected at 40th and be projected to have a decent chance to make the NHL is amazing. It could just be new toy syndrome but we need a few later round picks to turn out and he has the best chance right now. I look forward to following his development. 2
Popular Post Nuxfanabroad
Will be interesting to see how many that we drafted from 2014~19 go on to have Big League careers. Prob best 6 yr run of drafts in team history. Then if a few of the young FA signings work out(college, jr overagers), we'll be absolutely golden! 4
YEGCanuck
Well call me impressed! If the Canucks can remain in the top one-third of the league in terms of prospects we will ultimately see success. 1

If the Canucks dont have a first next year (make the playoffs) and how stacked the 2020 draft is, they will likely not be in the top 15 next year for prospects. 48MPHSlapShot
Pretty impressive considering that Pettersson has since graduated. I expect the prospect pool will continue to slip down in the coming years, but that's to be expected as the team will be continuing to integrate them into the lineup, while the prospects we pick up from this point on likely won't be as high caliber as the Petterssons, Podkolzin's and Hughes of the world. 1

Popular Post Nuxfanabroad
Hughes Woo Madden Podkolzin Hoglander Call me an incorrigible homer, but THAT to me looks like FIVE 1st Rd talents acquired over a 366 day period. So we could splurge one future 1st. 4 5
Popular Post Canucks Curse
not impressed with Carolina's prospect list, also, teams like LA, MTL, OT have prospects that have been prospects for 3-4 years, LA has not graduated a lot of key guys, for example Vilardi is from the same draft as Peterson and Peterson is now waaaayyyy ahead of vilardi and not on the list anymore- really you need to rank team's any U-22 players in the organization 3

You've got the wrong era, chappy..MG was the one who boned the cupboard like Ol' Mother Hubbard. All you need to do is change one consonant..b to h..cos' JB tends to hoard prospects, thanks. Canuck Surfer
Technically Quinn Hughes is still a prospect. So yeah, there is that...
BrockBoester
The future is now! Also, there's a key Canuck that may even be the future captain that's not on that list there.. 1 2

Fred65
When fans keep indulging themselves about Vcr Prospects we'll need to keep this in mind ….. there are 8 teams according to this with a better list
Phil_314
Agreed with some others who mentioned getting a stud D-man (preferably a right-hander IMO) to really have the icing on the cake. Forwards/ wings I think we are good (Hoglander/ Madden/ Podkolzin, plus it's probably still too early to write off Lind and Gadjovich), and left D we are pretty set (Hughes, Juolevi, Utunen is quietly solid) but right side we really only have Woo(!!). Another minute muncher would be great, hope we could find another gem (with the pick in the year that we don't send to Tampa for Miller).

Tryamkin is almost a sure thing on the right side, much more so then any of our prospects other then Quinn. If we pick up a RD next year, it would really set us up well for the next decade.
