From Wikipedia:

Commodore has been very open over his disapproval of Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock. Commodore has stated he was "screwed over" by Babcock while with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the AHL, claiming Babcock refused to play him in favour of new addition Kurt Sauer. The relationship worsened nine years later, after Commodore signed with the Red Wings, who Babcock was coaching. Commodore states this signing is what ended his career in the NHL. Commodore claimed that Babcock misled him by telling him he was wanted as a physical presence; Commodore would remain a healthy scratch for a month and a half to start the season before playing in two games, and was then scratched again until December, only reentering the line up when, according to Commodore, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland ordered Babcock to play him. Commodore would go on to say he was traded out of Detroit "because Holland felt bad [for me]", referring to his lack of playing time.

Then we simply have another Travis Green.  No big deal.  Worst case scenario, we have another Green.  Best case scenario, we have a proven championship winning coach.

No, we have a worse version of Green that is not a good tactician and doesn't have the ear of players.

lol, where do you get that conclusion from?  The Green that has this team with 1 win in the last 8 games?  Face it, at least Babcock has a history of winning until this season where most of the problem actually lies with the team built in front of him.

No but seriously.
Vancouver is in a slump.
what could Babcock do with this team?

Like I said in a previous post, couldn't be any worse than Green.  Treat this as with any acquisition.  Reflect on what the upside could be, and what the worst case could be.  Worst case is that we are as bad as we are now.  Best case is Babcock gets the most out of this roster.

You know, that "Green that has this team with 1 win in the last 8 games" was also the Green that had this team near the top of the league in October.

This is just a slump that they're in and they'll get out of it.

Firing Green and bringing in another coach in Babcock(who lots of players have absolutely hated playing for) is not going to help anything.

What a douche.  He signed in Detroit knowing Babs was the coach, oh yeah he went on to have a helluva career after getting traded out of there.  Not a Babcock fan, but I'll take his side on this one.

This team has been in the top of the league for the last three Octobers. The big problem is getting them to win the other 5 months of the season.

Just imagine what a guy who knew how to deploy Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom could do with Bo, Brock, Petey and Quinn.

You can't teach experience.

Then again, it makes you wonder why he couldn’t make it work with Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, and Rielly.

Is it a slump?  Or is it an inexperienced coach that doesn't quite know how to deploy the talent that is right in front of him?  I'd take a coach that has won multiple championships including at the international level if one were ever available.  Guess what?  Here he is...!

A better forward group, yes. A better defense or goaltending? No.

Well even if you add that up that equals a better roster, but I meant overall during his tenure as Leafs coach, he had more to work with.

They've been 'right there', but always had to get through Boston.  No different than those Canucks years with the Hawks.  Had Toronto got past Boston last year, they very well could have been in the finals.

It's not like we're supposed to be competing for a cup. We're supposed to be challenging for a playoff spot, which btw, we're still in right now. Our "talent" is still young. It's going to take another couple of years before we're at the level where we can start thinking "we're not at the top of the league and doing as well as expected, time to let our coach go".

Now, if we have another 10 game stretch as bad as this one? Then yeah, we should definitely look at the coaching and see what can be done.

As of right now though, we're on course to be where we're supposed to be and firing our coach is not the correct move at this point in time

Head coach isn't there to be your friend.  I think even the legendary head coach Scotty Bowman was disliked by a number of his players.

I think Harry Neale said that you generally have one third of 'the room' against you & one third of 'the room' with you.  The key is winning over the middle third.  ('the room' being the locker room).

and you think this team is built well enough in front of Green?? There were 6........6  4th line players in our lineup last night, and I am considering Gaudette 3rd line even though that needs to be sustained....
