Well Chara just got a $5000 fine for cross checking Gallagher in the throat so anything is possible. Oh wait, Kassian doesn't play for Boston.

Done.  10+ games.  History, intent.

You can literally cross-check a guy until his larynx snaps and get a fine but that skate comes up you're done

Agree completely, makes you wonder if he's gone off the wagon on substance abuse again. He's had some really bad incidents over the years, breaking Gagner's jaw with careless swinging his stick etc, but this was incredibly deliberate, not a lot of grey area in this.

If I was the NHL, kicking someone in the chest with a REALLY sharp skate, I'd be considering done for the season.

I don't know, I think I'd need to see another angle on it. Honestly, it's hard to tell whether Kassian's foot / skate was actually moving towards Cernak, or just clearing over the Oiler who is beneath Kassian in that pile-up. It could have very well been a harmless move that just looks a certain way from the camera angle.

That said, Kassian doesn't have a great record with these kinds of things, like his suspension for a careless stick follow-through on that Oiler back in the day, but I think a better angle would tell a more complete picture on this one.

I don't know if it makes contact, but the kicking motion is really clear, he doesn't have sneakers on, he's looking right at him, really, really bad. This was one of those, WTF was he thinking moments, that make me glad Benning moved him.

I've watched it a few times, I think it gets worse for me every time I see it. The first time was like, I can't really be seeing this right. But no, he REALLY does kick!

and the refs dropped the ball, no penalty, what a joke! in fact I don't think oilers even got a penalty this game

Didn't he just come off a suspension.

Seems Kassian is just a big goon and that kick to the chest of an opposing player is a very good reason to get the point across to this big goof and dish out player safety type suspensions.

3-5 games for a very dangerous and uncalled for play in the NHL.Then the beer league goon antics might disappear in our wonderful game.
