Probably since it is reported that we're 1 of 2 teams he's willing to go to.

I would be shocked if Brock was involved. I hope we get OEL, people can have their own opinion but I think he would be another Miller type trade. The coyotes have very little talent and play a life sucking boring game. Elder has been pacing as a 45-+ D the last few years, this year without much PP time. OEL is younger and better than Edler and I think Edlers our best all-around D.  I think a lot of people here are stat watching, once he's traded here, it will be nothing but upgrades all around and I pretty confident like Miller he will thrive playing with Hughes or Tanev along with a very very good top six.

A few things here.  Edler's better in my view.

IF (when) we do win the cup, it won't be because of him .... we're positioning ourselves to get there and he may be "part" of it, but he won't be the player.  A goaltender is a more important piece if you're looking for ONE player to put you there.

We're in the driver's seat in this...he wants out and has named 2 teams, Vancouver being one of them.  It's like we're giddy over being a "chosen one" but we're doing the choosing, remember?

15 giveaways in 9 games.  Is that what I just heard on the radio?

U think Edler is better than OEL?

Then perhaps a Kesler-type deal then...

Still too expensive.

No way is Eriksson NOT. part of that deal.

Only way this gets done is if Eriksson is a part of this deal. Only way I would do it otherwise is if they retained like 3M in which case I would consider OEL at 5.25x7 a good deal if it is Kesler-type deal but that won't happen, Yotes would have to be dumb.

So Yotes take have to take Eriksson or no deal.

the only thing for certain is that OEL's contract and NMC are gonna bring down his value a lot.

Someone may have already posted this but lol:

Things are believed to be intensifying in Arizona on the OEL front, however, unless something changes, the Oilers have been told they’re not on the short list of teams OEL will waive his trade protection to go to.

20.25m in cap next season on three over 30 D men

and 14.25 mill for two older dmen for the next 5 years.

8.25 oel 6 Myers 6 elder

then the cost let’s say boeser plus plus plus leaving.
it’s a giant step backwards going after him and long term will f us.

Myers only has 4 years left.

We are 1 of 2 teams OEL listed. This is a Kesler-type scenario.

OEL is 29.

Only way I see this working. (In other words I don't see this working)

Loui, plus Stecher's rights, and a 1st in 2021, and 2022.

So basically, no chance. Neither side would agree to that.

I think if this deal happens, OJ becomes expendable as the Canucks will have a top two LHD of Hughes-OEL for 5+ years.

I would be interested in OJ + 1st + 3rd + Eriksson for OEL + a small piece, as a somewhat non-pandemic similar deal to what Kesler got.

Those who’ve watched him regularly really like his physical tools (skating and size) but believe his decision making and overall hockey sense hold him back.

Quote

he’s closer to being a quality No. 2/3 defenceman ....would instantly become Vancouver’s second-best defenceman

How are you measuring "better"?

Cap hit - Winner Edler

Points-  Draw Edler (33 to OEL's 30 last season)

Long term EL has had 55 points 4 years ago. And has cracked 40 point twice in the past two years. Edler has been more consistent and steady.

Both left handed. (Can OEL play the right side?)

Edler is 1" taller, and 12 pounds heavier.

Speed, OEL?

Basically you are taking a gamble that OEL will be better with a better team?

Besides I can't figure how to fit $8.25 million into the lineup.

I'd almost be more willing to gamble on PK Subb....never mind. LOL.

I didn't think OJ looked bad in exhibition before the bubble cup. In fact a lot of times I didn't notice him. That's high praise for a defensemen for not making mistakes.
