He may been in contact with Canucks staff / hotel staff that may also be in contact with the rest of the players. Thus a precaution to shut it down. Literally anyone can be exposed and that exposure can from countless possibilities. I mean, pretty much every day during a pandemic is a “potential exposure.” Just seems too convenient. Had they been forced to go ahead with the regularly scheduled zoom calls, I was expecting half the questions would be about the slewfoot(s). Now, we’re distracted by “potential exposures,” and not talking about the giant vat of Motte’s Slewmato that got spilled on the ice last night. (I’m kidding, of course, but it sure is a strange coincidence that the day after Motte just went ham against his teammates, culminating in Gauds finally dropping the mitts in response, we have this cancellation and compete radio silence from the players and coaches.) That photo of Virtanen may suggest unseen irresponsibility on his part - but it alone does not necessarily indicate that. That alone is not evidence there that he was failing to social distance - or that that establishment was failing to execute existing health protocols in place at the time. Anyone can take a photo of literally hundreds of thousands of individuals, every day, not wearing masks, eating/drinking food in public settings. Take a ferry - a 'Crown corporation' btw - and you will find 100s of people eating and drinking, not wearing masks (literally impossible to drink/eat with a mask on), but nevertheless social distancing and for the most part, following public health and safety guidelines. Virtanen may be perceived less mature than most of his peers - but that photo alone is relatively meaningless and a mere fraction of the rest of the (relatively unknown) context. Everyone deserves to benefit of the fuller, actual context (not to be judged on an inconclusive snapshot and a bunch of innuendo) - imo there is probably too much micro-judgement/self-righteousness in self-appointed covid-peer-policing - that does not necessarily help fight the pandemic. As an aside - as for that hat that he is wearing - the irony is that it apparently refers to comments made by Brendan Leipsic - who has his own share of issues - including having fat-shamed Tanner Pearson's pregnant wife, taking shots at a number of his team-mates (referring to Dowd and Hathaway - in Washington - as "losers") - other alleged misogynistic comments that were deleted (one regarding McDavid's girlfriend) - and eventually earning himself unconditional waivers and termination of his contract.
