I think the infection restricted his nutrition absorption, so he couldn't gain the muscle mass and weight he needs to play NHL hockey.

 

Mario stopped playing after diagnosis; only played 23 games in 1993 and did not play in the 94-95 season.  The game of hockey is a tall horse to climb back on after being sick.

Two things that stand out for me are that he looks like he can handle the physical play and he gets his shots through (something i think will develop into decent offensive numbers). 

 

Would be nice to see him get some 2nd unit PP time at some point.

 

He's not Quinn Hughes but he's definitely got more to give in that area.

He needs to go north south. Use his speed and size. Be physical and drive the net

 

Simple hockey but he can't do it for some reason. Has all the tools.

 

I think his mental makeup is not the type to be aggressive and physical. Think he's scared to play that way.. 

 

But if he could somehow find that game he'd be a beast of a player
