DeNiro
Difference being Miller and Benn hadn’t had close contact with their teammates or other teams at that point. Edited March 24, 2021 by DeNiro

I don't how playing together with thier teammates isn't considered close contact.
NHL'er
Surely can be used as a tactic to mutually sabotage other teams?

Whether or not that's an acceptable approach is up to individual opinion, but it was good enough for the PHOs in the provinces affected. are you talking about the nucks or canadiens? That is so fishy, that they have this information on hand. It was over 2 months ago that the canucks had this situation. and anyways they were lying, JT practised one game after benn tested positive and then he quarantined. There was potential for the whole team to get sick and other teams too. The whole situation was handled poorly, and now the league obviously prepared a statement for SNET to cover thier asses. No. Top 4 teams from each division make the playoffs. They play through the first 2 rounds until a division champion is determined. Then inter-divisional play starts between the final 4 based on seeding.

mll
The games are only being postponed on the risk that more players are infected. It can take 4 days before the virus is detectable. During that time the player is already contagious. Once the risk of an outbreak is over the teams have been asked to play even when missing half their lineup regulars. The Wild returned to play while 9 lineup regulars were out with Covid. They had only 2 regular Ds in their lineup. They were missing 2 of their top-4Ds, their 3rd pairing and D7 and also starting goalie. They had to go with their D8 to D11 + backup goalie. They didn’t get additional time off to allow everyone to clear. The league also learned more as the season went along. Benn and Miller were at the start of the season. The league was looking at what other pro sports were doing. Turns out that on ice transmission is a real risk because the virus is going to linger longer than in warmer environments. That was not known at the start of the season. They’ve since taken so many new measures that were not in place to start the season. It was the NJD and Wild outbreak that had them revise their approach. Teams that are having games postponed are going to have such a compressed remaining schedule. That means Montreal will play the remaining 25 games by May 8th as planned? 25 games in about 40 days? I somehow doubt this very much.

There’s an extra buffer just in case but the playoffs can’t start much later or go beyond the planned dates because of the Olympics. Several teams have missed time/ had games postponed due to opponents unable to play - Wild, Buffalo, NJD, Dallas among teams that have been shutdown but there’s only 4 games past the 8 May date and none later than 10 May. https://www.nhl.com/schedule/2021-05-09/ET Montreal’s facilities are closed during that time. They can’t practice and it’s in the middle of the season. Not ideal to have players just sit at home. They aren’t going to get much practice days before jumping back into games. Nothing to cover their asses over.. Nothing happened. It's not even an issue... MTL will have a compressed schedule and it'll be hard on them physically. They could possibly drop out of playoff spot.. CGY stands to benefit most if they can win a few games and get things going here. Canucks are too far behind. Even if MTL drops Canucks would need to pass CGY to.. Not gonna happen... Edited March 27, 2021 by WHL rocks
