Provost
It was reported by Dreger that it is the Brazilian variant that is going around the team. Much more contagious. If that is the case, presumably some more cases over the coming days. More positives on top of the 9 already confirmer as of late tonight. Hope all is well with them and their families (who won’t be part of the count and some of them are almost certainly going to fall ill). A third the team out, with at least some the Brazilian variant. I wonder if this is it for the season. When they were given special permission to play and travel by the provincial government they must have talked about situations like this.
DownUndaCanuck
Don't see them catching up all these missed games, they might just revert to a points % for the teams affected which would make sense (and obviously just knock us out of the season). The rest of the season should then just be a training camp and trial for UFA signings and rookies next year.

Mackcanuck
This is why indoor hockey rinks make Covid even more contagious for the players!

I am not sure what the hell is going on with the West coast (I do actually know as a Californian with a ton of family from BC down to Cali), but I will say a lot of my friends businesses have suffered causing some of them to move to states where restrictions are not so aggressive. I am not a Republican or political by any means so anyone wanting to cite "Trump" for my leanings can kiss my arse. I personally think this is another case where we are allowing BIG government (whether in Canada or US) to control us and instill fear. I am also curious to know why flu shots are not really a concern anymore because it seems to have mysteriously turned into Covid. I have travelled numerous times in the past year via plane/automobile and while I have been tested once due to "potential" symptoms, I have not had any issues at all. Nor has my Fiancé who lives with me and has done the same, if not more travel than me. I do not doubt the validity of the virus, but I do doubt the ACTUAL numbers being submitted as Covid related deaths when it has been proven that many are completely unrelated (at least down here in the states). We only live one life and I refuse to live it in fear because of propaganda. Anyhoo, I will sit and wait for the other side to flame me while I do not give a sh!t. 10pavelbure96
Unrelated to the Canucks but did any of you see those pictures of Bonnie heading out to visit family on a helicopter no mask on right after she told everyone don't visit your friends and family over the long weekend. Do as I say not as I do. Meanwhile she is killing small business restaurants but wineries like the one she owns can still operate with customers inside. This government has got to go. The bc libs would have handled this better im sure, or a conservative party if there was an option. 1

These restrictions aren't changing a thing. Just gotta let nature (covid) run its course and be personally diligent. I hate the liberal culture here. Too many protests. Too many sheep. There is no bubble, they only had to follow the same rules as the general public afaik. It is similar but even more stringent. In addition to the rules everyone else followed they and their families are basically in a lock down scenario. No going to restaurants, or having your group of ten, etc., that normal people have/had. I know the following source doesn't state that exactly but it is what I heard at the start of the year. https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2020/12/22/nhl-announces-covid-19-protocols-rule-change-for-2020-21-season/ Edited April 3, 2021 by Gawdzukes
panelguy
The possibility exist that some of the infected Canuck players could have long term effects from what is said to be the Brazilian variant. If you haven't heard of longhaulers look it up.Long lasting chronic fatigue, brain damage where a person can't maintain concentration,in extremes the lungs can be like tissue paper. The majority of deaths and ICU patients are younger people. We can't assume because these are young athletes they will easily get over it so shouldn't be taken lightly.Lets hope for full and speedy recoveries. 1
Slegr
NHL players should have got the Vaccine in Stage 1. Yeah, they’re young, rich, and have celebrity-status in some cases. But they do perform an important social service of keeping us entertained. In these trying times, that’s important for all of our mental health. 1 1
