Big rumour back in November 2021..

We need RD man not a winger...

No Miller rumours being talked about...

Maybe Miller rumours will start more serious between September 15  to October 10th before season starts..

You trade Miller we need a Centre and a RHD at least. Even if it's a prospect that's close to playing in the NHL full time.

That leaves one hell of a void down the middle if he's gone.

I like the idea of trading Pearson and Höglander to free up cap space. Maybe we can get a decent RHD for them. If we trade Pearson then we should go after Rodrigues as the 3C and play Miller and Petey together.

Miller.          Pettersson   Boeser

Kuzmenko   Horvat         Podkolzin

Mikheyev.    Rodrigues   Garland

Given JR’s history with Pearson he could be the one traded so we have the cap space next year for Miller and Horvat.

You’d think Rutherford was actually Brandon Leipsic given how many times he’s traded Pearson away.

For anyone who is unaware of it, Leipsic actually said some pretty nasty stuff about Pearson’s wife on social media.

Thinking Pearson and Hoglander could be traded as a package, and then they'll re-sign Miller and Horvat.

Boudreau has given a strong vote of confidence in JT, and if they want playoffs, they're going to need him.

McDavid, Draisaitl, Kane for EDM, Kadri, Huberdeau now in the division. Zegras and McTavish for ANA. In the Central there are 5 teams that could get in.

Thankfully the Canucks have Boudreau as their coach and I think he'll have everyone ready for Game 1.

Kuzmenko - Miller - Garland

Podkolzin - Pettersson - Boeser

Mikheyev - Horvat - Lazar

Dickinson - Joshua - Lockwood

OEL - Hughes

X - Myers

Rathbone - Schenn

Dermott

Burroughs

(Poolman)

Just a heads up that Tanner Pearson has an N-MTC for this season, so he has complete control.
No clauses next year (final year) of his contract though.

How so...window of contention for Vancouver has NOT even started yet! Need to make the playoffs for that ball to start rolling

No kidding lol, the bar is so low around here.  We can't even sneak into the playoffs and people are talking about our window.  Our window of just making the playoffs I guess?

Demko vezina considerations, Miller beast career year, Petey career year, Horvat 30 goal scorer, Hughes big career year, we brought in a supposed first pairing D-man in OEL and stilllll couldn't even grab the 8 seed

Guess you missed the start to the season?

The team that started the season was not the team that finished the season. Gee wonder what changed?

If anyone can’t see that coaching was this teams biggest weakness by now I don’t know what to say….

Well its about cap and every team has some challenge at times?

Miller 30 next summer will demand 7.8--8.5 range X 6 -7 yrs?

So signing players to long contracts at 30 can be worse in long run?Calgary just signed 2 older players?

Kadri 32 - 7 yrs X 7 million--  contract will suck in last 3-4 yrs

Huberdea 30  next season  8 yrs X 10.5 million-- will hurt in 3-4 years

Management have decisions Horvat 27 UFA next summer  6.6--7.1 million X 7 yrs?

Petey in 2 yrs ? could demand over 8.5 million depending on his point production..

Someone good has to go?

Need young RD so bad under 27 yrs old tat can play 20-24 mins..

Of course it was coaching but what kind of window are you even talking about?  The making the playoffs window?  or seriously competing for the Stanley cup window?

Did it really just take a coaching change to take us from hot garbage to cup contender?

Looks like Benning built us a pretty good core group.

he did but he paid too much to the supporting cast, myers, poolman, pearson and the cast he traded to arizona for OEL and garland. ownership may had been part of problem too.

Not going to go through, looking, but did anyone else see Bruce on Global news this morning?

JT's wife is having a baby and then he's fully on board with returning to Van and the team. He and Bruce have seemingly very good rapport (which also matters).

BB was on 650 this morning.  Says he's pumped for the season and looking forward to having all 3 of his centres...

I love this first half/second half nonsense people trot out all the time. Regardless of how the team did/didn't perform pre/post Bruce, it doesn't change the (young, pre-prime) age of our core, the ill-fitting pieces on RD, and lack of succession plan for replacing them expiring after this and next year (or the cap to do so), the lack of 3C, the lack of prospect/organizational depth... or that management themselves have told us numerous times that they plan to make the team a contender in 2+ years.

We're not there yet. I don't care what our record said under whatever coach. Anyone looking honestly at this team should come to the same conclusion our management has. There's work to do. We're a couple years and a LOT of tweaking and building, away.

So far they look like they've done a decent job adding some speed/size/skill/PK ability etc (which was also a major shortcoming until this summer). Now they need time to address the rest. And let some of our inefficient cap/buyouts age out, the core to get more miles under it, etc, etc...

That doesn't remotely mean we can't be a good team or that this team doesn't have good bones (it does IMO). But we are not, nor should we be behaving like, a contender. including signing 30 year old Miller to a hefty retirement deal. By the time we're just barely starting to open that contention window, he's almost certainly starting his steady, age-related decline. Those are the "veterans with intangibles" you trade for at deadlines on expiring deals, or sign for bargain hits because they want to win a cup...not a (declining) guy you have $9m committed to through the meat of your window and the young core's prime.

that takes us back to 2 scoring lines and 2 checking lines. rather see mikheyev with petey and boes, miller with garland and podkolzin, BO with kjuzmenko and hoglander and lazar with joshua and pearson/dickinson or lockwood. if JT is moved then maybe different lines.

I’m so glad we got BB as a coach. He is so likeable and seems so vested.

Glad to hear that the whole team is excited to play and want to come early, including Miller! That’s true dedication if he is so eager to get here right after the birth of his child.

Thanks for the video!

sure we are. Our F group on paper is as good as theirs. Goalie too. We're lacking two top 4 d but Rathbone might end up being one of them.

They are contenders now and we are not. Its as simple as that. I don't see how you can say “sure we are” but then add what we need (just 2 top 4 D). That’s contradictory. Either we are (now) as much a contender as Calgary is or we’re not. Our management team disagrees with you.
