Idk why you've been asking for this - its literally never going to happen, ever. No team is going to go on record saying "here's exactly what we offered" nor is the team on the other side saying "here was the offer we got".

It would be stupid b/c you'd open yourself up to so much unnecessary hindsight criticism + it shows your hand.

The closest thing you have is insiders with generally decent track records of calling things before they happen (proof that they actually have ppl that they talk to within the teams).

Satiar Shah - who reported that thats what the offer was, is one of the "more reliable" people, as is Elliott Friedman.

YES - that's EXACTLY the point I'm making.  There is no real knowledge of what was offered;  only speculation.  This is why it's irritating when posters say " we should have taken the (blank and blank and a first offer), and now it's off the table we're hooped.  We just don't know what was out there.

Okay, here, rip this to shreds:

Trade:

To Vancouver:

J Toews 50% retained

To Chicago

Dickinson

2024 2nd

2025 4th (Conditional on Resigning / effectiveness of Toews)

Trade:

To Vancouver

Severson

Mukhamadullin

2023 1st round

2025 3rd round

To NJ

JT Miller

Trade:

To Vancouver

Shattenkirk

To Anaheim

Myers

2023 4th round pick from Rangers

New 2022 / 23 Lineup

Forwards

Podkolzin / Pettersson / Boeser

Pearson / Horvat / Garland

Kuzmenko / Toews / Mikheyev

Joshua / Lazar / Hoglander

Dowling

Defense

Hughes / Severson

OEL / Shattenkirk

Rathbone / Schenn

Dermott

Goal

Demko / Martin

LTIR

Ferland

Poolman (if he's healthy, he competes for a spot on the right side, if he can't out perform the guys who are there, we trade or waive him and send to Abbotsford.

Mukhamadullin spends a year in Abbotsford maturing and getting ready to replace Schenn when his contract expires next summer.

$2,906,667 in remaining cap space.

Okay everyone, rip it apart!

In:

Toews at 50% retained

Severson

Shattenkirk

Mukmahdullin

1st round pick

3rd round pick

Out:

Dickinson

Miller

Myers

2nd round pick

4th round pick

4th round pick

On paper its not terrible. It manages to keep us competitive, finds a 3c, improves the defense overall, gets some future assets, and clears cap space all at the same time.

Are you saying that “you guys don’t have all the information”?

I would have to think that Seth Jones would be one of the more perfect fits for Quinn Hughes on the right side and definitely doesn't fit the Chicago rebuild timeline.  He is only 27 and paid until 33.  Now he is a little overpaid, but if Chicago is in full rebuild then maybe they can help a bit there.  What about a three way deal with NYI:

To Vancouver

Seth Jones (1M per year retained by Chicago)

To New York Islanders

JT Miller

To Chicago

New York Islanders 1st

Bode Wilde

Nils Hoglander

The following would be a pretty major upgrade to our right side D:

Hughes Jones

OEL Myers (Maybe we can still snag Severson in other ways)

Rathbone Schenn

Extras: Dermott Poolman

Even though Chicago wasn't a very good team last year, minus 37 is an impressive number for Jones, especially after he was minus 18 the year before in Columbus who wasn't horrible at the time.

At the moment, his career might be heading in the wrong direction to lock into a 8 year, 9.5 million dollar contract, even with 1 million retained, considering the full NMC that he wouldn't likely be willing to leave behind in any potential trade.

Jones would be a great partner for Hughes.

He also has some pretty extreme political views.  Vancouver wouldn't be a good fit off the ice.

I like it except for the Toews trade.

if you’re sending a package like that somewhere it should be for something lateral with a bit of future returned as well. Not a fan of Toews at this point in his career

Chicago was trash last year and I think Columbus wasn't good enough before that.  In either location, there wasn't the insulation for him to not just be out in every situation paired with other subpar partners.  Paired with Hughes on PP1 and OEL on PK1 would balance the D out pretty well.  9.5 is super steep, but 8-8.5 is in Miller territory and he would arguably fill a greater need on our team plus gain us 2-3 years which is better for our window.

What possible reason is there to say this publicly?

Negotiation tactics...

and if it doesn't work, fans and possible suitors are aware...

It may even be a 'we are open for business' sign...

Wouldn't the NYR offer be a good example of the value a contending team would offer, though? And that's with an entire year left; this time he'll be a rental.

we have no idea if nyr even made an offer. are you talking this offseason or last tdl? desperation come at tdl, and despite the season the rangers had last year, they weren't a real contender, desperate to capitalize on a window.

I do think think trading JTM a developing C that can slot in the third line would be the way to go.

Lundell (FLA)

Newhook (COL)

Drury & Suzuki (CAR)

Chytll (NYR)

If they go for tweeners from CAR example, re-sign Lammikko.  Or heck re-sign Lammikko and trade for Lysell from BOS!

Yup, they are playing the blame game. Team wants fans to make sure that they understand the reasoning for not jumping to extend him, Miller's agent releasing a statement a few days ago tells me that Miller really does like it here and would like to stay.

There are risks on both sides if they go into the next season without him extended. All it takes is one injury to kill all trade possibilities and set us back a year or two on being really competitive.
