Alflives Posted March 20, 2022 Share Posted March 20, 2022 If we are sending back Poolman or Dickinson (guys getting paid more than Dermott and having longer term) then I can see adding Motte to one of those two. It's a savings on cap for next season and then Dermott is gone anyway. Consider it a cap clearing move. Got to use our valued assets to dumperoo the ones that have less than zero value. I can see several trades like this (we attach a cap dump to a player with value) where we take back less salary and term than is coming back. If the plan is for Rathbone to lead Abby to the playoffs down the stretch (and either Hunt or Juulsen could join him). I'd be fine with that. No more than a 5th round pick or Halak tho I would hope. If I recall correctly you had the same viewpoints on Hunt before being proven embarrassingly wrong after he came in and provided steady play. Dermott is a ‘nice’ player but does he really move the needle defensively for us? No. unless management has plans to trade Hamonic and Myers, OEL etc I see no need for another bottom 6 guy.
