Blindly blaming the owner is lame af. Benning whiffed on cap spending and JR and PA are stuck with at least a year or two to clean the mess before moving forward.

Benning was an overrated drafter as well.

Calgary had lost 7 in a row till last night.  Then Chris Tanev joined the chat.  They got him back in the lineup and even the commentators stated how much calmer Markstrom and the whole defence seemed with Tanev in the lineup.  Hes a top tier shutdown d man.  A guy you can throw out there to close out the game.

We have nobody like that.  Its a tire fire back there.  Hughes makes up for his average at best d play with his offence.  OEL is steady on some nights, other nights not so much.  Myers is a walking (er skating) gong show.  The bottom pair guys basically do their job but I wouldnt put them out there to shutdown the other teams top players.

They need to start improving/building the team from the blue line out.

You're really reaching if you think Miller doesn't care. He's the same guy who caught hell from the more soft-bottomed Canuck fans and Vancouver pundits last season for being pretty much the only player showing emotion when things weren't going well, remember? You think he's changed now just because he got paid?

Lol if you think dropping Fbombs while coasting to the bench or slamming your stick on the boards while yelling at the ref is the kind of emotion a team needs from leaders.

I'd prefer that to the usual fresh-faced dullards that the Vancouver market tends to favour.

Chris Tanev was elite, top 5 shutdown dmen in the league. We let him walk and even worse,  most of the fanbase was okay with letting him walk

Tanev elite? Yikes! He was above-average and more than serviceable as a Canuck...when he's not injured. Too high-risk to have re-signed.

Absolutely they did. Absolutely. O he’s only plays half a season, he won’t take a home team discount, he’s over rated, woo can replace him. Sigh

His record was pretty solid, and drafting is a group effort imo. Scouts are just as if not more important than the GM especially beyond the 2nd round.

My fault, meant drafting and development. Overrated af. His best pick was Pettersson. Hughes was the BPA at the time. Juolevi should’ve never been picked over Tkachuk. Outside of Demko, nobody outside of the 1st has a solidified position on the team.
