Meier was literally just moved yesterday, so the teams that missed out on him are obviously going to be looking at th secondary market. And again, deals can materialize quickly. Just because nothing is pending at this moment doesn't mean something won't be pending at this time tomorrow. It also should be noted that Horvat was never sat for trade reasons, and part of the reason Schenn is being sat is so he can spend time with his pregnant wife. Boeser playing tonight means literally nothing. Edited February 28, 2023 by 48MPHSlapShot

Apparently Allvin was busy working the phones today with a lot of the chatter being about Boeser and Schenn. I imagine there have been offers, but the offers involved more retention than Allvin was comfortable with. He or one of the other GMs could change their tunes about retention very easily as we get closer to the deadline. What we do know is that Allvin is actively shopping Boeser, which he hasn't been doing with Miller.

There are nuances to negotiating a trade. The Canucks aren’t going to give away Boeser and any interested teams would need the cap flexibility to fit his current deal plus be willing to meet what the Canucks want in return. And yes, Boeser will sign a contact like that, or better, in 2 years time…if you can’t come to grips with that then debating you on the topic is an exercise in futility. 7 years 40 million .. or better. No, he won’t. His PPG over his career are: 0.89, 0.81, 0.79, 0.88, 0.65, & 0.75. 29 year olds with career (to date) of 0.78ppg get contracts, and nice ones.

He still scores 50-60 points a season. He will be around for a long time. But yeah, he kinda stinks. Time for him to move on Edited February 28, 2023 by D.B Cooper
Pavel the Bure
Boeser's playing regrets so much that it is not even funny anymore. He signed a contract and lost motivation? He looks slow and dumps the puck in every time with zero creativity or energy.

But if he comes into his prime which he is and so far should get over 70 points he will be in the NHL for years. Think he will be looked at and might be a last.minute trade, more likely at the draft or off season. He is a good player just never going to be a true 1st liner which we all wanted. AnthonyG
I’ve been starting to see smaller details in Boeser’s game that are starting to lead to more zone time. It hasnt always been possession for us, but its been keeping the other team stuck in their own zone a little longer. He’s become more engaged in corners and along the boards with forecheck pressure. What really is noticeable to me, is its stick position and body positioning that I’m noticing a different element to his game. It looks to me like he is really working on the areas the coaches are trying to teach him. It’s a part of his game that is in progress, but if he can become consistently successful at tying guys up and winning battles in the ozone and extending our zone time, over the course of a season, those small details win the war of attrition. Even if he engages and ties a guy up and makes it difficult for the opposition to break out and never gets any possession, he’s killing seconds off the clock. Every second we spend in their zone, leads to more chances of error. Errors lead to possession, possession leads to chances, chances lead to goals. He was promising as a rookie but due to injuries and family stuff, he’s more of a 2nd line winger (50+ pts). So should be around the $5-6M salary range. So he is currently overpaid for what he brings. His next contract will probably go down to $5M with term.
Mustard Tiger
Shut him down for the year. He's not getting moved this year imo. Send him home to minni and tell him to mentally reset. Be ready to go for training camp. It's alot more likely we can move him deal with 1.25 years left ( next TDL ) Zero reason we should be paying any assets ( including retaining money ) just to subtract from the roster. Not while we are a bottom feeder anyways
Provost
It almost seems inevitable that he is going to be traded to Minnesota to me. Aside from the hometown thing, they are one of the few teams that really needs to add wingers badly. It is just a matter of how much we retain, and what return we get. We will have to take money back. Greenway is underperforming to his contract, Dumba is a cap dump until the end of the year. Hopefully a prospect like Faber or Lambos comes the other way. For those going to say they don't have cap space, they will just be moving around money regardless and they will be making moves work because they are in a playoff position. They aren't just sitting back and giving up until the buyout money comes off their books in a few years. It may mean taking money back that has a year of term on it. Nucker 67
to MIN - Boeser (25%) and Rathbone to VAN - Greenway and Lambos Hughes Lambos Pettersson Jurmo Canucks could be pretty good at LD (future). Need to draft RDs this year.
