Everything I've heard from Tocchet so far is in-line with what needs to improve.

I'm excited to see what he's able to do here & how certain guys respond.

Linden said the same, so did Benning, so did Willie, so did Green and guess what Torts was right, the core is old and tale, this team needs more young players.

Talk is cheap.

Good to see some people coming around. It's important to give Tocchet, Foote, and Gonchar a fair shot.

I didn't think the Tocchet change would happen. Still have my doubts whether this market can handle his style and not run him out of town before he does get a fair shot.

But ...

When it was clear he was coming in, bringing Gonchar and Foote, I quickly saw the upside if things go right. If they can get our guys playing like all three of them did in their careers, we'll be in good shape. I feel good about our D with Gonchar and Foote. Hoping their approach is indeed the structure we've needed.

Actually glad they've got the remaining games to get acclimated and assess, with less focus on gunning for wins. If Allvin makes good at the deadline and offseason, next year could be the start of something good ... hopefully.

I've been away from CDC through much of the past week... what does the elephant emoji represent?

i asked that eariler because i wasnt sure, but some one said it was from the presser with the tocchet hiring with PA/JR/RT, cause he was attempting to qoute an old saying but pretty sure he butchered it.

It's a quote you can't eat an elephant with one bite. Everyone on CDC sort of chuckled, made a bunch of elephant jokes, and voila our amazing Mods had an elephant emoji.

I think Tocchet was trying to sound smart. But he kinda flubbed it.

There was a lot of references. Damn now I'm hungry for elephant, etc. Just roll with it. ::D

Tocchet isn't the best speaker by any means. Lol. Very awkward and somewhat uncomfortable. But if you dive past that, he seems like a very inclusive guy. Always mentions leaning on others. Team player stuff. I do really like the additions of Gonch and Foote. I think our biggest weakness isn't just the blueline, but team defense as a whole. We can't really shakeup our blueline, but these guys can hopefully maximize what we do have. I want Bedard, but I just don't have it in me to cheer for losses. I want this team to stop looking like the walking dead on the ice. Hopefully the new additions can breathe some life into our blueline.

I hate talking about Miller, cause it's usually negative and I feel like a hater. But I defended that trade hard when we made it. I know he has the talent to be great. But we really need him dialed in consistently and his emotional energy directed positively. He's not a lazy back checker. It's non-existent. Yelling at teammates, in practice it's sort of accepted. Horvat did it, but he didn't make a habit of it. But you don't do it in the middle of games. I don't know if coaching can fix that, or if we need a strong vet voice in the locker room to do it. But his contract does not look nearly as bad if he dropped the negative emotions. Cause he's been a frickin' point per game guy since he's been here. He is hard nosed. By all rights he should be beloved here. But his emotions are his biggest enemy. I really wanna see how he does under this new regime. If it's not improved, we should move heaven and Earth to find him a new home.

Yeah, I don't like how many are writing him off immediately just because they liked Bruce's personality. Hey, I did too Bruce seems like a grade A human being but at the end of the day the on ice results weren't there. Yes, the roster is flawed but its not this flawed....some of this has to be structure/coaching related.

Correct. Also whenever anyone brings up Tocchets "criminal" history it completely deflates their argument. Too much of that going on.

Guy ran a small time sports book. Jeeze big deal. Look at all the gambling adds being shoved down our throats. The whole NHL is one giant sportsbook nowadays.

8 million $ JTMILLER said all the “right” things  prior to season too, but he has yet to show up and back his words. I’ll believe it when I see it. Let’s see if Pouty miller will change for the better.

If new tough love leadership doesnt turn him around then nothing will.

The dangerous game he is playing is if he comes out flying for the next 6 games. Hitting, being engaged at both ends of the ice etc. Then he shows the fans that he still has another level, which means he sets the new bar high and it becomes the standard. I will expect this from him moving forward regardless.

Let's go with baby steps.

How about no blind passes, or giveaways to the other team?

That, and some toughness. I don't expect him to scrap people. After all, he is scorer not a tough guy, but play physical in the corners, finish your checks, show the kids how to play hard hockey and make life a little more difficult for the opponent. Thats all i really want from him and many other guys. Take away time and space by being physical
