I recall the Oilers getting the same kind of treatment from the hockey world; especially Canuck fans.

After years of bad GMs, terrible coaches and a questionable owner, they have finally started to do

something in the playoffs.  The big difference between the Oiler and Canucks is that they ended

up with McD and Drais, when they were losing.

Now it seems, we have replaced them as the laughingstock of Canada.  Hopefully we're reaching the

bottom of the barrel and the team starts trending upwards next season. I would be more confident

if there was a top 5 pick at the draft, as well as a 22-26oa pick as well.

Or, it has something to do with the Canucks poor record and poor decision making over the past decade...

That doesn't explain 2011 then when we were the best team in he regular season made it to the finals and they were still openly rooting against the Canucks.

It's for all of the mowing the lawn in February pictures that you guys sent to people outside of BC. - Frozen Calgarian here

But media likes to beat teams when they're down and hype up teams that are winning. Whatever generates the most clicks

Matthews scores 3 goals: "Is Matthews better than Gretzky?"

Canucks/Sens lose 3 in a row: "Why bother icing a team? Tank hard for Bedard instead"

Aside from the tire pumping story, I remember it being mostly positive talks during the run.

Likewise in 07 with the Sens.

No, they were openly rooting against Vancouver, especially in the Finals. They might as well have painted the studio yellow and black.

Your right but look at what they did for Montreal , in 2021 The irony of 2011 is shortly after in 2013 TO could have knocked out the bruins in game 7 but with 10 min remaining the bruins scored 4 and eliminated the maple losers. Poetic justice at its finest. :lol:image.jpeg.e326e1529815e1b755d8ba09b3e9d299.jpeg

the media reflects the attitude of the fanbase. it's an appeal for clicks and it works, because trashing the team is what moves the needle in vancouver.

This team has received what they have deserved over the last decade or so.

I think it is more about the fans, than the team.  Overall, Vancouverites and west coasters are an

arrogant bunch that are disliked by a lot of folks on the other side of the Rockies.  All you have to do

is read all the horrible comments peeps make about the other parts of Canada.  Most of us would

hate us too.

Personally, I don't think Vancouver is the greatest place to live in Canada, nor is the West Coast

the only great place to make your home.  Canada is a vast and varied country, which has something

for everyone. Vive la différence!

Apart from the local broadcast team, have you ever noticed how Sportsnet articles and media tend to rip on the Canucks every chance they get? And also the Ottawa Senators? All of the Canadian teams get much more positive attention.

What has this team done to be ensuring of much in the way of positive attention?

Turn things around and the attitudes will too.

That being said, it's all well earned. What they possibly say positive about the team right now?

1. Petey is on pace for 100 points and thrills and delights us with his playmaking and stickhandling.

2. Kuzmenko has been a tremendous addition.

3. Quinn is the best defenceman we've ever seen in Vancouver.

4. Mikheyev has been a good addition.

5. Dakota Joshua has been a good addition.

6. Ethan Bear has been a good addition.

7. Luke Schenn is the heart and soul of the Canucks defence.

8. Linus Karlsson, Danila Klimovich, Nils Aman, Jack Rathbone, Vasili Podkolzin and Nils Hoglander are all developing nicely in Abbotsford.

9. Aidan McDonough will sign after the NCAA season. A pure sniper, he will likely need time in Abbotsford.

10. Arshdeep Bains is developing steadily in Abbotsford and could become a third or fourth liner.

Oh, there are negatives, to be sure, but man, try looking for the good things about the team. It's so much more satisfying than to constantly pick at the negatives and use them as an example of general and total ineptitude. We get it, the team has vastly underperformed this season, but there have been bright spots that should make you hopeful.

Really though? cause Edmonton was awful for a decade and still got praised by SN

I really don't think so. This just seems like confirmation bias, or bias in general.

Edmonton has been a joke themselves for a very long time. The only thing now is when you talk about the Oilers, McDavid takes up all the oxygen, so it's less about the team being trash.
