Overview

 

It was all smiles last game, with Silovs earning his first win, Pettersson picking up 5 points and Kuzmenko introducing everyone to banana pepsi power. Tonight the Canucks need to get back to business - tanking business that is. The NHL gods have blessed the Canucks of late with Shark, Blackhawk and Columbus victories putting a high draft pick within reach. Will the Canucks take it or settle for point gaining morale wins that are pointless. Some could argue that this late season wins means the team is building to bigger things in which case I'd like to introduce you to a man named Bruce.

 

For the predators, the playoffs seem a dying hope. They are 10 points out of the last wildcard spot and have many teams in front. Their leading scorer, Forsberg is out and won't play tonight and they've been led in scoring and everything else by Josi. Their other notable player is goaltender Saros who has had a good season despite the down year for the team. The Predators lost their last game in the final 21 seconds and will be eager to win tonight or else open the floodgates for trades.

 

For the Canucks their lines should match the Philadelphia game. Over their last 5 games their leaders have been Pettersson (5G, 6A), Beauvillier (4G,2A), Kuzmenko (2G,2A), Hughes (0G, 5A) and Miller (1G,4A). Delia, Silovs and Demko are on the roadtrip but Demko is not expected to start. We will probably see Delia in net tonight.

• Roman Josi owns the Predators team lead in points with 49 (15g-34a). He has 45 points (14g-31a) in his last 45 games after tallying two points on Sunday at Minnesota (1g-1a). Josi has recorded at least one point in 17 of his last 21 contests, and he posted a season-high six-game point streak from Jan. 21-Feb. 13 (1g-7a). His 15 goals are the third-most by an NHL defenseman this season.

If Islanders finish in the top-16 then they are outside the lottery and Canucks take their pick in the 2023 draft.

If Islanders finish between 17-32 in regular seasons standings (1-16 in draft) then they enter the draft lottery.

    -  If they won the lottery drawing in the first or second drawing then they would move up 10 spots and then the Canucks pick gets moved to the 2024 draft unless the Flyers waive their top 12 protection.

    -  If they don't get chosen in the 2 drawings and pick at spots 13 to 16 then the Canucks get their pick in the 2023 draft.

Real possibility of winning this one sadly, no Forsberg, the Preds playing at 0.500 right now. They're 7 points out of a playoff spot with 2 in hand. Hopefully they play with some urgency.

I truly love the team even though I haven't been watching their games of late for obvious reasons... and because I love this team so so much, I am hoping they will just keep on losing...  I know most players would hate that feeling but hey, aren't you used to it by now? there is ZERO incentives to win games now... it's fun to score goals but for there is no point for defense and goalies to give 100%.

 

If we magically landed Bedard, our successful rebuild will get a huge boost by 3+ years or more!!!!!

Honestly, even Fantilli or Carlsson will fast track our rebuild. Fantilli is Modano lite and Carlsson is Malkin lite. Very deep draft.
