NYR has more playoff veterans

Quite more.  Per Dan Rosen:

Experience could be a factor, and it's heavily on the Rangers' side with their 24 active roster players accounting for a total of 866 NHL playoff games played versus the Devils' 25 players totaling 479, of which Ondrej Palat accounts for 138.

For the Devils, Jack Hughes, Dawson Mercer, Yegor Sharangovich, Michael McLeod, Jesper Boqvist, Kevin Bahl and Luke Hughes have never played an NHL playoff game. Bratt has played one. Damon Severson has four. Nico Hischier and Miles Wood have five.

Every Rangers player expected to play in this series has played at least 16 playoff games.

Luke Hughes and Sharangovich still haven't.

Considering they need to get some offense going, I suspect they'll put both in next game.

Devils are going to need to lose a few playoff series before they become contenders, usually good Cup winning teams lose like 2 years in a row before piecing it all together and going on a deep run. It'd be nice for them to win at least one series in that time but I don't see them getting very far against a team full of veterans in their prime in NYR.

Surprised by how many penalties are called so far, these games don't feel like the close-checking playoffs when teams have like 5+ PPs a night. NJD had their chances but couldn't score whereas Fox just tore them apart and NJD's PK was brutal in front of their own net. They've got to find an answer for Fox on the point, they can't give him so much time back there. Weak goal by Vanacek in a key moment on Lindgren sucks all the life out of the team too but they were never in this one.

I think NJD will win a game here or there but the Rangers are just going to roll through this one it seems.

NJ hung on to too many pieces. I was expecting them to trade with us for one of our top forwards, for a defenseman.

Same with Fla. We had offensive players that they needed and now they're getting exposed.

However we might nab a solid Dman in free agency.

NJ needed a JT Miller on their team, should've traded for him when you had a chance suckas. they look small and intimidated.

I wish we had a 6'4 Trouba and Kreider on the team.

Yup. Hughes, Heischer and the Smurfs are getting ran out of the rink. Just too small and too scared.

With the series shifting back to New York, the Devils are in deep trouble.

Devils were in deep trouble before they played anyone in the playoffs. Too many of their top minute forwards are small, soft, and scared. And their number one D, Hamilton, has always been a softy. Sweeperoo and then a big drop in points next year. No playoffs.
