I still think that we sign Bear, but giving him a 2.4+ Qualifying offer at the moment, makes zero sense. If he wants the security, and the ability to rehab with team doctors he's familiar with, he needs to take a 1 year prove-it deal. There isn't going to be a massive rush by other teams to sign a guy who's going to sit out the first half of the year with a significant shoulder injury, especially when he's a bottom pairing quality player. 1 3 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think if they give him a one year deal it will be in the $1.1 million range. He'd only be playing half a season and he'd have to start on LTIR, which means another player has to come off the roster to make room. At $1.1 million we can send him to Abby for conditoning and it wouldn't count towards the cap. When he's ready he can take up someone's spot who's our 7/8 guy...
