Been gone a while now Burr...why do we still need to have this thread active?

He was a great Canuck, amazing hockey story. But off to Ottawa to finish off the twilight of his career. No longer a Canuck player in uniform, always a Canuck at heart!

Shhhhh...such blasphemy will anger the hockeys Gods forever damning the Canucks to bad luck and poorly officiated games.

Who would win? The 1984 Oilers or a team full of Burrow's?

Answer = Da Burrs

How about a cage fight with GSP, Hulk Hogan and Ivan Drago against Burrows. = no contest.....da Burrs takes 'em all down.

We need him back. As an assistant coach.  I'd love to see that. He'd be so great with new prospects.

Edit: I wish once he finished his career with Ottawa, come back and be a part of the team, as a coach, just when it is peaking again. And finally watch him raise the Stanley Cup as a Canuck!

This thread has become like those flowers you see at a dangerous part of highway, where people have such trouble letting go.

...or where people want to honor a person that passed (away) too soon.

Oh snap! I know you ain't be talk'n smack about Slegr, Deb?!?? Just kidding. Burrows did enough for the Canucks that this thread can stay up for eternity.

What's the difference between the above two subjects?

Hint: One is the do'er of the impossible in real life instead of movies, and is much better looking and doesn't ever wear make up.

(edit: not bashing Tom... he's amazing... but he's no Burr)

It's funny how we all discuss the merits and accomplishments of these athletes, whether good or bad. Burr's rise to the top is a discussion of folklore. Undrafted, works into a contract to the ECHL, works into a contract with the AHL, Canucks take a flyer and he becomes one of the all time great Canuck's. Though his numbers don't line up with Steamer or Linden, Burr understands extreme hard work, knows no other gear, and flat out makes 1st round picks look like 6th round picks. We were so lucky to have such a man with great work ethic and passion. It is my hope the Canucks bring him back upon his retirement as a personnel development asst mgr, Long live the under dog. And god bless Burr.

We've addressed the "moving on" part previously.  It certainly doesn't hurt anyone to have this thread in place and, just as Burr's history with the organization is unique, so is this thread.  Burr's absence will be felt for some time and this thread is a place for people to discuss him and serves as a reminder of what hard work can accomplish.  That's  a good message to keep "open".

The option to simply disregard the thread is a simple one, so it doesn't seem pressing to have to shut it down.

Plus we all know Burr will be back in a coaching role in 3 years.

Burr wins a Cup this yr!

TRADES: Phaneuf(1.5 mill retained x 4 yrs) to ANA for Bieksa & 3rd R

That 3rd & Dzingel to SJ, for Hansen

We trade them Edler & late pick, for Harpur & 2019 1st

Anderson gets injury trouble, so Lu to Ottawa(they both win 8 games, 50/50 on their Cup run!)

So Burr, Lu, KB3, Badger & Edler win Cup with 2018 SENS!!!

...would we have a parade?!

Nah, but if Ottawa beat Edmonton, we could go there and riot.  According to them it's what we do best anyway.
