Edler/Tan Hutt/Gud Sbisa/Trya Miller Starts Marks Backup Eriksson will start the year with the Sedins but will drop to line two when management has to learn once again that they need a winger that can play the corners. Bo should be on line two but I would not be surprised to see willie start the year the way he ended it with his center depth. But, based on the line-up we have and on what Benning has said, this is what I have: Daniel Henrik Hansen Baertschi Sutter UFA (Brouwer) Burrows Horvat Etem Dorsett Granlund Virtanen Rodin Edler Tanev Hutton Gubranson Hamhuis Tryamkin Sbisa Larsen Markstrom Miller key points: 1. The Canucks will go for a top six forward UFA. I am not sure they will be successful as not many potential UFAs will want to go to a team that does not look competitive. However, Brouwer might be willing to return "home". He is not young (30) but Benning might be happy to add him on the basis that he can help the team now then get displaced in the top 6 by Boeser a year or two down the road. 2. I think Burrows will stay, There is not much financial gain this year in buying him out and it actually makes next year's cap situation (when there will be cap bottleneck) worse. It might be argued that Benning will want to free up his roster spot, but it is not obvious to me that likely replacements are better than Burrows if the team is trying to win now. 3. Benning seems committed to giving Etem and Granlund a long look, so I think they start unless something strange happens in camp. And of course Dorsett is in as a 4th line winger. And I think the Canucks will want to keep Virtanen in the NHL and he is good enough to play 4RW. I think the Canucks will also want to get a good look at Rodin, so I think he makes the team and rotates in, with the other bottom 6 wingers being rested from time to time. (And at any given time someone is almost always injured.) 4. I hope Hammer is re-signed. I am not confident of this outcome, but I am putting it in partly because I am hoping for it. Problem: Pedan is not on this roster and he is waiver eligible. Maybe Sbisa gets traded and Pedan is in. Or maybe Pedan gets traded. But I guess it is more likely that Hammer is not re-signed, leaving room for Pedan on the active roster. It will not surprise me if Burrows is moved or bought out.(Higgins is gone also) 8 D and 13F Training camp and pree season will be very interesting. I will stick my neck out and say they will sign Lucic and Eriksson . Not sure about Hammer, I have mixed feelings. I think this a year that they intend on going all in on.
