PhillipBlunt Posted May 3, 2017 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Pedan has a real opportunity here. He has the tools, and hopefully Green can show him how to make them work together. For his size, he's very fast, and has a howitzer of a shot, hardest on the team presently. As well, he's a willing combatant, something Tryamkin wasn't totally comfortable with. Went from potential roster player, to never called up due to waiver status, to being a healthy scratch at one point. He could be swimming in cash in Russia, but showed his loyalty here. I hope he makes the team out of camp. Also, with the departure of Tryamkin, and to a lesser extent Larsen, as well as the potential loss of Sbisa in the expansion draft, keeping Pedan was needed. Speaking of that traitorous commie (sarcasm), don't think for a moment that Benning isn't being strategic here. Clearly part of the reason Pedan has been signed is to maintain leverage with Tryamkin, in hopes that Pedan can relay back word to Nik that it's time to return to the NHL. The Canucks need some toughness up front, it shouldn't all have to come from the back end whereby a fight would cause the defense lines to have to be juggled for 5 minutes or more.
