im seeing serious character and mental toughness issues with the Leafs overpaid, highest minute guys.  

It’s similar to what the Oilers did when the6 had Nuge, Hall, Eberle.  Gave them too much money too soon.  Contracts the players never truly earned.  The guys thought they were bigger than th3 team, and measured their success by the size of their pay-check.  Created a toxic environment.  Loser Leafs are following the same path.  Matthews will be first out.  Then Marner.  

yeah i noticed when Marner tried to do it alone, he got easily stripped of the puck. 11 million.....

Entertaining though...to see them in turmoil.

I can see a team like Buffalo making a play on Brent Burns. That team looks like they want to take a step forward. They have cap space (over 13 million in cap this season, more this offseason). Could absorb Burns' cap hit and he'd be a good mentor for both Dahlin & Power. Burns contract will end just as Power's ELC will end just as Burns's contract ends. Seems like a good fit, though I'm not sure Burns will waive his NTC to go to Buffalo.

I have no idea who would take Karlsson. Maybe Ottawa wants him back?!?

Green, rightly so, now hates the Leafs.  Hell, before we had an NHL Keon was my favourite player!  People who are still Loser Leaf’s fans should just stay on their board and not be allowed to troll here.

Didn't say much except that they are cap strapped. Will try to add a forward or two to the bottom six. Doesn't expect to have the wiggle room to improve the d core. Meh.

I thought JR’s most interesting comment was how they will start to very much worry about Miller at the 2023 TDL.  If Miller isn’t extended by that date then they will worry.  

Another interesting comment from JR was about the meeting with scouts.  He said the first day the scouts didn’t really offer their thoughts much.  Then, after encouragement, there was a lot of discussion.  Sounds like Benning didn’t listen to scouts so they just learned to not say much.  Benning sure did a lot of damage.

Yea, Laine just would not be a good fit in Columbus with Torts’ coaching style. I also can’t imagine they’d want to go 5 years without a 1st round pick.

I thought the threshold from two to four firsts was the AAV over a five year term, and it was 10.4 mil.

with the offer sheet rules you need to have the picks available for the next draft, with the one exception being if you go fully monty at 4 1sts you can do it over 5 years. Right now, CBJ doesn't have the picks to do a smaller offer sheet than 10.4.

So weirdly CBJ can do 4 1sts, but not 2 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd 

I believe that if management and ownership came out and addressed Canucks fans the way Rangers management and ownership addressed Rangers fans there'd be an appetite for a rebuild. I think a lot of fans would embrace it, and I think a lot of those fans would still go watch games if they were being sold on a young, rebuilding product.

I know I'd go watch that sort of team if we had an actual rebuild as our direction, and I live on the island so it's more of a trek. 

There's this other hockey team I like, and years ago, I think 2014, Sally and I were watching them, and I was sitting in a computer chair close to the TV with my feet kicked up, and she was sitting in her little red chair right beside me.  I looked over, and she was standing up in the chair with her eyes glowed to the TV!  It was so cute! 

One year, many years ago, we were watching Olympic hockey, and it was Canada and another team.  During the game, she got off the couch and ran over to the TV, and put her paws on the TV table, starring. 

I think cats can actually follow what’s happening on a 

TV screen.  Cats are extremely intelligent.  

I think it’s fabulous, this Internet.  It allows people from different cities to enjoy friendly conversation.  

I know there’s a full period left, but it’s nearing this old (not so lonely now) Alf’s Bed time.

You know what's awful.  I don't know the score of this game, and I have it on the TV.  You know what's even more awful.  I was at a Canucks game once drinking wine and texting on my phone, and it took me two months to know who actually won the game.  And all the time, I thought the Ducks won.  That's really awful of me. 

Oh wait, I just looked, we are ahead!

Those Leafs, they were beat by another team last Saturday, and I was jumping up and down doing my victory dance like crazy!  I'm in love with another team as well, but I was not too in love with the game that was on before the Canucks game. 

You know Alf, the Leafs were the first team I ever knew of.  I was 5, and my Grandfather had all this old Maple Leafs stuff.

Alf, it's ok, I drink anything that has alcohol in it, including but not limited to Listerine.

My wife took me for an outing to a Little town called Cloverdale.  (I think it’s part of Surrey). She went to a Flea Market, and I scootered around the town.  In Vancouver I use only the sidewalks.  The bicycle lanes are really not safe.  Well, in Cloverdale (I learned) I’m supposed to use the bike lanes.  A police officer stopped me, while I was scootering on the sidewalk, and told me such.  I asked him if this was an April Fool’s prank.  He didn’t laugh, and actually got somewhat angry.  He even asked me for my driver’s license!  I was a bit foolish at this point, and made a snarky comment.  “Why in the heck (I didn’t say heck) would I need a driver’s license, when I drive a scooter?”

The officer got really mad, and told me to get into his car.  (Now I can walk a bit, but I was pissed now too, and wasn’t going to let the officer know that). I told him I couldn’t walk to his car, but if he drove slowly, I could follow his car in my scooter down to the police station.  

Let’s just say Alf slept in the dog house last night.

You know @Alflives, I kind of feel ick after having 4 glasses of wine yesterday evening. I had chips for dinner, but I should go to the grocery store. It's just a matter of fact of putting on my shoes and walking to the grocery store. Organic blueberries are on sale!
