420since1974
I believe that "performance bonuses" are only allowed on ELCs and 35+ contracts.
TOMapleLaughs
It's his agent's job to push for job security regardless of 'earning' it or not. Lots of recently drafted players get signed to a max 3 year ELC, how do they earn that when they haven't even played a NHL game? Not denying it, however it's a joke. mll
It probably means 2 years vs only 1 year - Friesen got two years as per Kuzma. I think most of the RFAs will get two years: Corrado, Clendening, Grenier, Markstrom - although it's not always ideal if all deals are up at the same time. RiCHC3
Hopefully he doesn't have the same agent as Sbisa otherwise we're screwed.
Provost
I don't think the agent would be interested in signing a long term deal at his actual value now. He is a fringe NHLer at the moment so it would have to be under $1 million.
DeltaSwede
900k-1.5 mil for 3 years would be solid.
TheRussianRocket.
Would be all for it at a cheap price. Look at what some other teams have done and it looks like a steal in year 2. Wouldn't mind 4 years $2 mill per
Baer.
With what went on with Calgary, I think he just wants to stick on a roster and settle. He's tired of doing the cross continent trip.

Gstank29
Could be a fantastic deal if he does well. If he doesn't people will be calling for Bennings head
Tystick
im sorry but i have a serious problem with someone who is has un proven them self and is already asking for a long term deal.... prove your self first then ask! It could be beneficial. If he wants long term he's going to have to accept a smaller pay check. Hell, give him the NTC if he wants 5-6 years at 2-3mil. ChwkCanux
Could be a fantastic deal if he does well. If he doesn't people will be calling for Bennings head It's Vancouver. They call for a GM's head the day after he gets hired. Sven is a gamble, but a 3 year deal below a 2 million cap hit is a minor risk.
aGENT
Geez calm down every body. This likely means he just doesn't want a 1 year deal and he *gasp* likes the organization/wants to stay. Something like a 3 year deal at 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 with a hit of $2.5m would be a steal.
JeremyCuddles
Longer term meaning 4+ years? I'd assume Benning wants to lock him up to a 2 year deal. Some time to see if he's legit. I'd be hesitent to give him anything more than 3 years. Unless it's dirt cheap. Give him 4 years 3.8 mil. He can grow into it like Sbisa.
elvis15
NEWS 1130 SportsVerified account@NEWS1130Sports Baertschi's agent Andre Rufener tells me that he will talk with the #Canucks soon about a longer term deal. That's a bit of a stretch to say this is anything significant. They're just talking about doing more than just signing the qualifying offer. WHL rocks
No surprise nor a big deal. This is expected. Agent just doing his job. Of course he wants to negotiate a long term and best possible deal for his client. That's what he geta paid for.
Miltt
Unbelievable demand for a guy who has done jack so far. Guy is already a headache for us. I say trade him away for a 3rd or whatever we can get, we just can't have a Hodgson V 2.0...
