Horvat = Bergeron
McCann = Krejci
Virtanen = Okposo + speed
Boeser = Pavelski
Shinkaurik = Skinner
Baertschi = Vanek?

I think if Baertshci reaches his potential, he could possibly be on the same level as Vanek; extremely inconsistent, but has plenty of natural ability.

Yeah I don't see the Shink and Baer comparisons. Virtanen is way more physical than Okposo.

none are accurate in my eyes

horvat is decent but i dont see him as ever being as good as bergeron

comparables - ryan o reily

mccann - modano

virtanen - perry without as much offence but  better skating and hitter

boeser -  hull   ultra lite   hopefully he lights up league with snipes

shinkaruk - verbeek  snipes with good work in corners

baertchi - vanek is he pans out

demko - brodeur lite  this kids gonna be legit

Horvat = O'Reilly: Probably a better comparison than Bergeron.

McCann = Modano: I think it's too early to say McCann is THAT good. I feel like McCann plays a similar game to Krejci; both are smart, pass first type players. The main difference is McCann has a laser shot that he knows how to use as well.

Virtanen = Perry: Perry's hands and hockey IQ are both better than Virtanen. Virtanen could be an elite player like Perry, but not in the same way. Just because they are both big doesn't mean they play the same way. If Okposo was faster, I think he would be the perfect comparable for Virtanen.

Boeser = Hull (lite): Ultra, ULTRA lite, then sure. I feel like Boeser is being overhyped right now because of how well he's doing. I'm not saying he's bad, just that we shouldn't have our expectations so high. In the NHL, defenders aren't going to give him the same time and space that he's getting right now to get the shot off. He's still very capable of scoring 30 goals in the NHL, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. I'd say Sharp is a more accurate comparison than Pavelski though.

Baertschi = Vanek: Good if Baertschi turns out. If he does, he will probably still be inconsistent, like Vanek. But he will also have a tremendous amount of natural ability, like Vanek.

Shinkaurik = Gallagher/Skinner: Shinkaurik is the hardest one. I would say that he has Gallagher's compete level with Skinner's offensive ability. He might not be as good as that sounds, but that's kind of what he plays like.

So redoing it:

Horvat = O'Reilly

McCann = Krejci

Virtanen = Okposo + speed

Boeser = Sharp

Baertschi = Vanek

Shinkaurik = Gallagher/Skinner X 0.75

So far I like:

Horvat - O'reilly

McCann - Krejci (comparing players to hall or fame players is kinda silly)

Virtanen - E. Kane

Boeser - Couture

Shinkaruk - Zuccarello?

Baertchi - T.  Johnson? (I don't see the vanek comparable at all. Vanek is a big goal scoring guy while Baertchi is a small playmaker)

Hugely optimistic. But, hey, why be a fan if you can't dream.

Until we have players that other teams compare their young players to we'll be dreamers.

The twins are too good for comparisons!

That, and it's hard to compare 1 prospect with 2 players practically joined at the brain....

There aren't any prospects out there that can thread a needle like Henrik Sedin

+1

In case you missed Dylan Larkin's pass to Zetterberg earlier. Just a beauty.

I'm not talking about players that are getting close to retirement. I'm talking about our young guys making names for themselves that other teams compare their future prospects to.

You can blame Gillis for that one really. Ideally, the Hodgsons, Schroeders, and Jensens (I'm not convinced Jensen will me it at all) should be in the lineup by now. I guess having a theory is just that: having a theory. Grabner could have been helping us as well (albeit in a non-consistent way probably lol)

I think our future looks brighter though. We're actually seeing change for once.
